so how far is to far

oh yes those good old numbers on paper  i am not a big fan of published numbers that most of the time do not cross over into real world results . this is why i do a lot of bullet testing for things like how well they group in the rifle i plan to use them in and also how well they open...

so how far is to far

yes the wind is not our friend with these smaller lighter bullets. i hunt and take shots based on many factors and if there is to much wind for the bullet i happen to be hunting with i will just pass on that shot. i have done a lot prairie dog shooting with a 221 fireball at ranges from 100 -600...

so how far is to far

so you shoot a 1/4 bore also :D i know my bullets i choose to use in this rifle are not some super high B.C. bullet but they always seem to do just fine on all the game i have used them on from antelope to mule deer to elk. this rifle was built to be a light mountain rifle for shots out to 300...

so how far is to far

i already have a 6.5-284 had it built maybe 12 yrs ago and yes it works very well for longer shots but as i get older and it gets heavier it tends to sit in the safe a lot more then it did just a few yrs ago.my 6.5 is on a rem 700 and is close to 9.5 lbs which is way more then i care to carry...

so how far is to far

just got back from a new zealand tahr hunt and took my 25x47 along for a hunt. the longest shot to date with my 25x47 was a mule deer buck at 414 yrds using an 80gr, TTSX going 3100 fps. the bullet dropped him in his tracks . this nz hunt i took my tahr at 472 yrds and he went maybe 50 yrds then...

260AI for Tahr and Red Stag?

i just got back from nz hunting tahr and a friend that was with me was using a stock 260 loaded with 120 TTSX and took a 13 1/2" bull very cleanly at 440 yrds so your 260AI should do just fine. BTW i was shooting a 25x47 [ 222 rem mag necked up to .257 ] loaded with 80gr TTSX and took my tahr...

Slo-Mo Videos .308 TTSX impact tests

i also use the TTSX 180 gr in a little wildcat 35. the final load i ended up with it is at 2450fps and have taken a cpl elk ,deer, and black bear with it. it groups nice and so far all shots have at 200 yrds and under . i would have no problem using this load out to 300 yrds. i also use the TTSX...

    Always learning something new

there will be an optimum length barrel for each caliber and bullet style and weight and for a given powder . each 1 of these items can be changed and there is a good chance it will change how fast or slow the bullet leaves the barrel. then you can also had 2 lets just say off the shelf rem 700...

    30 caliber bullets

that swift scirocco is a much better bullet now then when it first came out. the early scirocco was a little light and staying together which they took care of with the scirocco II . i have used them on a few shots kinda close in and a cpl getting out there a bit. 1 caribou at 600 yrds and 1...

    30 caliber bullets

if they hold up good as a hunting bullet then yes they are all and then some you will need to kill a deer at 700 yrds and less i use something half that weight out to just past 400 yrds and works ever time there is so much more to a hunting bullet for long range other then bc i bullet to will...
