    Looking for RBBT bullets

Hey Joe Matrix ballistics do custom rebated boat tails but their heaviest is only 194gr. They do make a 210gr .300 but it's a standard boat tail. Here's the link anyway: .308 Caliber Bullets Custom Built for Accuracy | Matrix Ballistics

    6.5 Prometheus (6.5 PRO) 140 gr. 3700 fps

I was definitely going to use HBN but I've never really looked at Melonite treatment. Just had a quick read about it now and it looks awesome! That's certainly a possibility!

    6.5 Prometheus (6.5 PRO) 140 gr. 3700 fps

I'd much rather have some crazy performance than a slow coach of a .264 with a barrel that will out-live me :) It's not the end of the world to replace a barrel. Plus I'll never be firing multiple shots in quick succession. The barrel will always have time to cool, which I'm led to believe...

    6.5 Prometheus (6.5 PRO) 140 gr. 3700 fps

This cartridge is just what I was looking for! Does anyone have any results from testing that I can sink my teeth into?

    160gr Matrix

These bullets sound awesome! I've been waiting for someone to make something bigger than a 140gr. I'm planning on getting a real big .264, something along the lines of the Allen Mag or the new 6.5mm Prometheus I read about on here recently. I was wondering though, is there a reason the 160gr...

    Brass bullets?

I agree with Canadian Bushman, you should consider a secant ogive. It will bump your ballistic coefficient up slightly. What are the dimensions of your bullet? And what software are you drawing it on?

    Powder names

Can anyone possibly shed some light on the seemingly arbitrary alphanumeric names given to powders? I get a headache trying to read through big lists of recommended powders because, as far as I can tell, you can't deduce the burn rate from the name of the powder. The numbers just seem to be...

    Brass bullets?

The relatively hard brass won't allow the lands to cut in as easily as copper so the barrel will wear slightly faster. Some companies, such as Cutting Edge, make the body of the bullet slightly undersized so that it rides on the lands. Then they have bands along the bullet which are the diameter...

Browning X Bolt vs. Tikka T3

Thanks for the help guys! I'll try to get my hands on some asap. The Tikka they both have a 1 in 10, as do most of the .243s I've been looking at, though some were 1-9 twist. But as Sako7STW said, it won't be necessary to push 115 grains down the pipe. 95-100 gr will suffice. I'm also designing...

Browning X Bolt vs. Tikka T3

I'm in the market for a .243 to go after deer and pigs in the forest. So I want something relatively maneuverable to get around trees as well as in and out of the land rover. Max range will be 200 yards, maybe 300. At the moment I'm leaning towards the Browning because it comes glass bedded and...

    6.5 rum?

The following is from the Allen Magnum Wildcats webpage which should answer some of your questions. ( Allen Magnum Wildcats ) Recommended Powders: Ramshot Magnum, H-US869, WC-860 and WC-872 Velocity Performance: Bullet Weight Muzzle Velocity (30" barrel length) 100 gr...

    6.5 rum?

And barrel life is around the 1200 mark so it's not as bad as one might think. I've heard of .243s getting worse than that.

    6.5 rum?

It's been done already. Kirby Allen necked down a .338 RUM (just a necked up .300 RUM, which is the parent case for the 7mm RUM) to .264. He calls it the 6.5mm Allen Magnum. It can launch a 140gr projectile at 3550fps, which beats the .264 win man by at least 2-300fps. Allen Magnum Wildcats
