    Sherman wildcat prefit barrels

Rich, I want to re-barrel my Rem700 .270. Would the barrels you're referring to work on it?

    260 Rem Vs. 6.5-06

Well I've got a 24" 270 Win w/ a standard barrel and just bought some of those 170 pills and would be quite content to get 2800 out of them but would like to do it safely. I've got IMR4350 and RL17 handy but have heard good results from H1000. Going to likely re-barrel to 6.5 Sherman anyway...

    My budget .270 AI ...

Congrats on your hunt. Been following your build and am impressed with the possibilities for my .270 Win and those Matrix. What is the weight without the scope, and did the Beenie Cooley MB make a noticeable difference?

    shotgunning coyotes lesson learned

I don't have a shotgun but if I did have one I don't know if I'd be too excited about hauling around two guns. I too have been caught off guard by a coyote that shows up quick and close popping out from nearby brush. I learned that if I hunt anywhere near any brush, I turn my scope down to 3 or...

    6.5-06 Ackley Improved

Awesome. I have a Rem700 in .270 and would like to re-barrell eventually. Still trying to decide where to go with it. What is the weight without scope? I prefer a heavy rifle. That barrell should last with the load you mentioned.

    FMJ's on coyotes

How close do you have to land to your target to do "some damage"? I would rig my bipod up to that.

Good bang for buck with those. What are you shooting them out of?

    FMJ's on coyotes

Yup. The temorary cavity a large cal round (FMJ or round that doesn't expand) creates on a coyote from it's forces is much greater than what any .22 HP round can do and does. That is why you often see guys going to a .243. Higher % of DRT. Aside from hunting, another interesting thing in the...

    FMJ's on coyotes

An FMJ, or a round designed for hunting a much larger animal then a coyote, doesn't simply "pencil through" a coyote. Hydrostatic shock destroys them. A .223 has nowhere near the same energy as a .270, .308, etc. Nobody here is suggesting using .223 FMJ's on dogs. I'd like to hear from those...

    FMJ's on coyotes

Watch the vid westcliffe01 posted using a larger caliber FMJ and compare it to the .223 gel test done by the same vid maker. Seems clear a .308 FMJ does more damage than a .223 HP. That's what this thread refers to. How a .308 FMJ does on coyote. I believe a .308 or .270 or any similar caliber...
