Another possible cause of Ammunition Shortages… Hornaday Ammo in Russian Army

I would like to see a more thorough investigation by hornaday, other than a blanket denial that any of their distributors are selling to Wagner or Russia. https://www.politico.eu/article/how-us-made-sniper-ammunition-russia-rifles-weapon-ukraine-war/

Remington 700 picks and choses when to fire

SPRING/FIRING PIN LUBRICATION There has been a fair amount of discussion on firing pin/spring lubrication. Also mentioned was the effect of cold weather on failure to fire incidents. Kenny Jarrett suggests using nothing other than lighter fluid to lubricate trigger assemblies. BTW, I follow...

A dumb question, but perhaps you know the answer (I don’t). I have seen “Bullets” spelled as you did “Boolits” once in a while. What is the purpose? I had thought that it was for some cites that prohibit talking about ammunition, but that doesnt appear to be the case. So why do you, and...

How much did the Hart services cost? What barrel twist and what diameter and length. Sorry for all the questions, but I don’t know much about rebar telling/changing calibers. Thank you

Help me pick a caliber for my next rifle

Some question! No lack of opinions here. I believe that ALL, repeat ALL rifle calibers represent compromises. That is what keeps gun writers in jobs and rifle manufacturers in business. The biggest unknown for all of us is what do you intend to hunt, and at what is the maximum range that...

Barnes TTSX 150 or 168 gr in .308 Win?

I load 150 grain ttsx in my .308. I have used 4064 and varget in my hunting loads. Not too much difference.. I suggest using whatever powder you have. I take shots out to about 250 yards and have had good expansion inside the carcass. Lung shots and head shots. Learned i my old age that a...

    Kids 22 options

I was taught how to shoot on a single shot long barreled .22 (Remington targetmaster) that my father purchased in the 1940’s. It was a great gun, but probably too hard to find. I asked my dad about gething a different gun (semi auto) and he said that I should learn how to shoot by taking a...

Help me pick a caliber for my next rifle

I presume that you will hunt deer or elk out to a range of 300 yards. If that is the case, I don't think that you can go wrong with a .308 win or 30-06. Both are accurate and will kill deer or elk sized animals out to 300 yards. The .308 is particularly easy to shoot do to lesser recoil...

Barnes TTSX 150 or 168 gr in .308 Win?

I used a Barnes 150gr. TTSX in my .308 on a Blacktail this fall. This is the bullet recovered on the offside neck after quartering away shot at 100 yds. Near shoulder then spine. I loaded to moderate speed, about 2750fps +/_ 50. at muzzle. As you can see the bullet did a fine job.

    Side Arm for Grizzly Country

I am surprised that no one has mentioned bear spray as a preference. It seems that it has a wider “cone” of effective aim, is much much cheaper, and, if you are hunting with someone else, is a much safer option as it won’t kill a hunting buddy if it hits him during a close encounter with a bear.

Barnes TTSX 150 or 168 gr in .308 Win?

I took a deer this fall with Barnes TTSX-BT 168 grain. It performed beautifuly, four petals and the bullet lodged just under the offside skin. I had no problem with It expanding. Barnes has suggested dropping weight so arguably I could/should have used 150 grain, but hey, with the 168, I can...
