1-9 Twist and not sure about the chamber specs. I know that Hill Country Rifles has a .5" guarantee with the 160 gr Factory federal ammo. I have shot the 180 VLD's and the 162 amax out of them and both have done very well.

Those old posts were from before I knew what I was talking about. We didn't have a chrono and were just going off the ballistics calculator. There were a number of assumed variables. Now with more knowledge ad understanding I am revisiting the rifle. I am thinking about going back to 7STW...

Looking for a round to push the 180 Bergers at or above 3200 without going to a 338 parent case. Would need to go in a Remington 700 long action. I would really prefer it not to be a belted case also.

we just bought a AR500 10" circle target from Steel Target Products by handgunsports.com and haven't put a dent in it yet. shot it at 500 yards with my 7mm STW 162 gr amaz at 3600 fps. Make sure you angle it slightly and it will stand a better chance.

shot them out of the tactical and didn't find a group that worked. went with the SMK 168. still have to try bergers and Amax.

it is more about body comfort for me. I get into a position that gives me a good stock weld and a solid recoil base. Sometimes that is behind the rifle sometimes it is canted. depends on the locale.

i would look at getting a one piece base instead of the two piece. Seekins makes good stuff
