I have two of the 5-25 on range rifles. I like the feel of the turrets and they return to zero every time so far.

In many ways the PDs are like hogs for us in Tx, just another target. They both are not very beneficial to the land and a lot of people want to erradicate them. Me, I just shoot them with a 223 or with a 300 PRC, but just shoot!!!!! I can certainly understand the fun in shooting a few rounds...

Well I have been at it a while!!! LOL And to add a comment, all of those rifles, except the 22 mag have a good scope with exposed turrets for quick dialing. That is a major part of the fun of it for me is to try and hit a high % of the shots no matter the distance.

I take 22 mag maybe 150 yds, 223 to 400 yds 55 v-max, 22-250 with 55 gr and 68 v-max, 6 creed with 87 VMax Switch out often to allow barrel to cool. When I get to a new town I always start with the 22 mag, clean up the close ones and then go from there. Obviously the 6 creedmore is for the extra...

HS Precision stock? Bedded? Round count? Which Timney trigger? Twist rate? Likely 1/14

6.5-284 shooting 99 Hammer Hunter at 3350 fps has a 275 MPBR and should be good out to 500 yds or deer, antelope and varmints with right at the magical 1000 fp energy.

Fairly certain Cabelas had a special run of Savage 116 accu-trigger and accu-stock rifles that had a tapered and fluted stainless barrel in 6.5-284. I know for certain that barrel/model was manufactured as I have one. Shoots lights out.

Agree, followed closely by or in addition to a high quality AR 15 in 5.56/223 for the same reasons. The 223 will afford better hunting results on larger game than rabbits/squirrels also 2 legged targets.

SAMMI cylinder? Any idea on the freebore? Wanting to shoot the 90 CX and possibly the 103 ELD-X. Longer bullets than the 87 V-Max.

My Ruger was shooting the 168 A-Max at 2550 with 43.2gr of Varget. Haven’t chrono’d the newest loads with 45 gr of Varget, should be 2600 or so.

My Ruger American Ranch with 16.5" bbl likes both the 168 A-Max and the 168 LRX and Varget pushes them. 45gr IIRC. I think it will shoot better than the pics as I am using a Primary Arms 1-8x24 scope with the ACSS reticle, so not a lot of magnification or a definitive "precision" reticle. But...
