I have 2 8's. A military Mauser that has a extended eye relief scope on it and timney trigger. Shot about a 1.125" 10 shot group with 196 Noslers, varget, Fed 210. Sierra and Hornadys real close. My dad's old 1914 Mauser in 8/06AI loves 200 partitions, Imr 4320, Fed 210. Averages 1.250" or...
If this powder doesn't work as well as you would like, try Re-19. We have shot all but 2 deer DRT and one of those went 30 yds. 140 Partition, Re-19, Fed brass + primer. Gun is Rem Model 7 20" SS.
I have Rem. Model 7 in 7-08. Only 2 deer out of 20 or so took more than one step. 140 gr. Partitions, Fed case and primers, Rel-19, shoots moa. Rifle has a brake but doesn't really need it. Wife and son both got 1st deer with it.
bitbythebug: I think you may be a bit high on pressure with that 195 gr. load! I would certainly double check it. Even though it might come out of the chamber ok, these fairly straight cases don't always show pressure well. Have you fired a factory load and measured the brass verses your load...
Remington Model 7, in 7mm/08. 140 gr. partition, ahead of R-19. Of about 15 deer shot with this one only two ran. One was a heart shot by my son on his 1st hunt, the other an angle shot too far back. Both were dead just didn't know it that quick. All the others were "Nosler timed" as Hal Shockey...
I have a Ruger # 1 that started out as a 7mm Rem Mag. Got it when someone bought it and tried that ammo in a 7STW chamber. It shot factory Nosler 140 Part. like a shotgun about 2" groups. Fixed the forend by taking off the wood contact, and it had an ejector problem (stuck piston/spring). Tried...
