    Cartridge poll for curiosity

I'm getting out of the 6.5 Creedmoor business, so I have a pretty complete list of items to sell. Curtis Axiom SA with a Bartlein #5 7.5 twist bedded in a Grayboe Outlander stock and another Bartlein medium Palma gain twist 9-8 which is fitted to the same action. Timney flat trigger. I have a...

    TPS Products…***?

I like the Murphy rail also. I have a Pierce action and they make the rails for Pierce I believe, at least there was a link to them on the Pierce website. I also prefer to support a made in America small business that does great work. Warne, EGW, Leupold, Nightforce and Badger are all good as well.

    Set and Forget Scope Recommendation

I would likely use a LPVO with a dot in your environment and range and if you like Leupold their 1.5-5 VX5 with Firedot would be all you need. If you wanted more magnification I would strongly consider the Tract 2.5-15 hunting scope. Very good German glass and solid build for less than a...

Are people liking the Strike Eagle 3-18

I have the 5-25 based on the recommendation of a friend in our agency whom is very experienced and whom I hunt with. He has the Razor GenII and bought a Strike Eagle. He likes the Strike Eagle just as well for a practical hunting scope that doesn't weigh like a brick. I like the Strike Eagle...

    Sako VS Browning

One very important thing I didn't see is the condition of the bore in the Sako. If the receiver and bolt are serviceable and can be cleaned up, even if the bore is shot because of neglect and no good, I would recommend to rebarrel it in AI if that's what you want for far less than buying the...

    There’s something about a .308 Win and 168 SMKs

I had a M1A Supermatch McMillan some years ago which I was absolutely stupid to part with. Amazing rifle and one of the best battle/ sniper rifles ever made. I needed a porter to carry it though and I think that’s why I sold it. I replaced it with a POF 308 which was a great rifle in it’s own...

    There’s something about a .308 Win and 168 SMKs

IMR 4064 is what the M118 Army sniper round uses with SMK 175. I wish I could find some but I don’t think I can stomach $50+ for a pound of powder. I found some IMR 4895 several months ago for under $40 so I bought several, wish they had eight pounders would have been even better

    Hunting with and without suppressor?

The cover does two things, titanium is kind of tinny and makes some noise and the cover serves as a damper, it also makes a difference in mirage for extended shooting and a third is not getting burned by a very hot suppressor

    Hunting with and without suppressor?

I ride a 4 wheeler several miles through some dense brush to a hunting spot, so I leave mine off until I get set up. I transport it in my pack. I’m usually where I need to be well before I can legally hunt in a stand and the same if I spot and stalk. I much prefer hunting with a suppressor for...

    There’s something about a .308 Win and 168 SMKs

I should’ve added the bullet is Tipped SMK 168 and Federal GM primer, set just short of mag length. Varget shoots well also and I’m experimenting with CFE223 but haven’t had great results accuracy wise. It shoots under an inch all day but I want it to be as good as my other loads which it ain’t...

    There’s something about a .308 Win and 168 SMKs

My accurate load is 43.2 IMR4895, this is a group I shot with the rifle pictured left. The hole left is my aiming point, the group is five rounds at 100

    Powder shortage????

Political perspectives aside, I know a guy who works closely with military munitions manufacturers and who has access to places most of us don't. He said that he recently was in a warehouse area of one company where they store powder and it was almost empty. They had only a few months of powder...

    Best Value 223/556 Barrel?

I think that FN CHF are really good and you can find them on sale but they’re still a little expensive, Bear Creek Arsenal has a CHF line of barrel which I haven’t tried and theirs have been questionable at times. That said I have several of their uppers and I like their side chargers for very...

    300 Ham'r other powders?

Oops! I erred in my powder usage, is CFE BLK, not 223

    300 Ham'r other powders?

I've been thinking of building a light 18" 300 Ham'r bolt gun. Probably on a Howa action or maybe a Savage short action and a PTG bolt head, would likely have to order the barrel direct from Brux or Bartlein to get the correct twist but I wouldn't mind doing it with an Ace barrel. I built a AR...
