Hi, I run the 243 with the heavy varmint barrell, & find it excellent. I am in Australia shooting foxes I admit but would imagine that both pests would be similiar. The rifle has the swarovski 6-25x50 Z5 scope and is good for 200 to 650 metres consistently. I would recommend it.

Hi Big fella, the answer to your question is YES & am very happy. I purchased the HB 243,SS with the black hoag stock. My reasons for this is quite simply this is a working gun, not a mantlepiece special. the gun is extremely accurate over long distance & no silly problems like jamming or not...
