    Help needed with load development

I did not suggest starting out with your testing by shooting bullets seated into the lands, I don’t think anyone did. The advice was to start .020 off of, or back from, the lands. Then to shoot groups in increments of .005 moving further back from the lands. This would allow you to zero in on...

    Help needed with load development

I think that plan completely deviates from the solicited advice. As stated, start .020 off of the lands and work back in .005 increments. Using a bigger gap could very possibly miss your accuracy node altogether. Load development at 300 yards is also bringing other factors into the equation that...

Sub 2k long range hunting scope?

Nightforce. The mechanical adjustments are absolutely repeatable, and they are strong, robust scopes. The glass is excellent. Crisp and clear bright image. You won’t ever look back.

    Rifle Build old Rem 700

Kind of important to have the barrel before blueprinting, this is so that the bolt face can be trued square with the chamber etc. Just pointing that out, sounds like a fun project!

    Introducing the Absolute Hammer

I’m really looking forward to trying some of the 30 cals in .308, having a little extra poop out of the 175 grainers would be fantastic! Exciting stuff sir!

    300 wby bullet

I have used and had great luck with the Nosler 200gr Accubond and 7828. Can’t go wrong with it, performs excellent on game and delivers plenty of energy. Just my humble opinion.

    Moose load

I had great luck with the 200 gr accubond and IMR 7828 out of my win mag, I was using the fed GM215M primers and Hornady brass. Shot under 3/4 moa out to 500 yds very consistently. Good luck and good shooting sir!

    Tikka 22 250 1@8 twist or ruger 22 250 1@10 for coyotes.

I think the ruger will have no problem with the 70’s as long as you load to the higher end of the recommended book loads, the tikka can stabilize all the ‘heavies’, no problem but you might have to load the lower end loads if you want to shoot the 50 grainers. When pushed hard in a fast twist...

    Introducing the Absolute Hammer

How is burning all that powder and pushing for these velocities affecting throat erosion? In a caliber like .300 RUM where barrels can experience throat erosion with low round counts when pushed hard already, is this problem going to be exacerbated using this bullet and pushing higher...

primer seating interfering with head space?

I find that the federal primers seat in nicely with no deformation of the primer cup, I use the rcbs hand priming tool and it gives a really nice handfeel to when the primer hits the bottom of the pocket. I had this problem once before in an older browning .270. Solved it by trying several...

    Hello

Welcome from Longbranch, WA. I was a member here back in 2005 and life took me away from the forums and on quite a journey, just recently purchased my dream property with my wife of over 20 years now and the first thing I did was set myself up a rifle and pistol range out back, second thing was...

Whats your favorite long range rifle ?

My Sako 75-V action in 300 RUM, 26” Lilja barrel, Zeiss 6-24 x 50. 208 grain ELD at 3000. She’s a real sweet shooter. Stan Jackson out of Anchorage was the gunsmith that did the work, blueprinted the action, fitted the barrel, did a great trigger job, etc. it’s the last rifle that he is ever...
