    Free Recoil Zero Shift

What caliber are you shooting ? Have you got a muzzel break on it ??light bulb I have found that a good break really helps a lot on the larger magnum calibers...maybe I'm getting soft in my old age but it seems like I'm more subjective to the recoil than I use to be...or perhaps I just expect...

Shooting The 338 300 Grain SMK

The 300 Gr. SMK with H-4831 is also a shooter. I shot a couple of 1.00" 5 shot groups @ 200 yds the other day to test the load. So, that is .5 MOA @ 100 yards. According to my external balistic program the 300 gr. has more drop @ 1,000 than the 250 Gr. by about 18". However, the energy is still...

    Free Recoil Zero Shift

Well, from 37 years of bench shooting..mostly free recoil with 2 oz triggers and 36x scopes on things like a 6PPC, etc. I can tell youn the following. Bag handling is very important to maintain POI the same...everything must be as close to being the same as a human can make it. I use to try not...

The big old SMK does it again

Any well placed shot at 300 or 1500 yards is a good one:)...providing you hit and excuted the shot exactly as you intended it. If the ranges are close...You can concentrate on a smaller target on the animal/person or whatever your target happens to be. i.e. instead of a "Center of Mass" or lung...

The big old SMK does it again

Nice buck. Most people don't realize how much work goes into a nice clean shot at long distances. It starts with expensive weapons, lots of reloading time and bench time. It is nice when it all comes togeather and it makes you feel like you accomplished your mission. I hope to have some...

    Bullet Preformance

Thanks for all the info on the bullets. I'll try the 225 Gr. Barnes bullets @1,000 ans see how they shoot. I'm at 5,572 feet above sea level and usually around 40 degrees (Montana Mountains). The 250 SMK are shopoting fairly well...I haven't tried the 300 SMK but will do some reasearch on the...

    Bullet Preformance

Well, I'll hang around hopefully for a while ! The 1,600 fps (speed needed top open their bullets) that Barnes Bullets is claiming sounds interesting with their .225 TSX BT bullet. According to their B.C. and my program at 1,000 yards this should still be running around 1,800 fps wich is enough...

    Bullet Preformance

I just built a new Surgeon in .338 LM. :) Does anyone have any first hand experience with a bullet that will open up and preform correctly @ 1,000 yards or more running around 1800 fps @ 1,000 yards ? I was looking at the .225 Barnes TSX BT. The BC looks really good. I have used their TSX...
