    Best boots

This is what I use from bow season, through rifle season. Kenetrek Mountain Extreme, non-insulated. I wouldn't sit in a stand with them but if you're doing a lot of hiking, with a good pair of merino wool socks, you'll be warm enough. They're very waterproof and fairly light. When you wear the...

    Leupold RBX-3000 tbr/w rangefinding bino

Wow, three grand is not in my shooting budget for a rangefinder/bino combo. Nikon and Vortex each have one for about $1200.00. I love the idea, but again, I can't swing that much dough on a rangefinder, but I wonder the same thing about the Nikon and Vortex.

Important Meeting for all Montana Elk hunters

Thank you. I'll be there. I live in Bigfork. Wolves ran a mature bull into my pasture a couple of weeks ago. He came in the middle of the afternoon and was panting really hard and the poor guy was following my horses around, looking for security. (I did video it with my phone). I got curious...

    Introduction...and question

What a generous offer! By Montana standards, we're neighbors! I am in Missoula now and then. I'm a UM Grizzly football season ticket holder, and my son starts school there this fall so I suspect I'll be there a lot. Mama will see to that! The longest range I can find here is 400 yards. The...

    Introduction...and question

Thanks KyCarl, that's why I am inclined to the 300WM. I am imoressed with the 28 Nosler but there's no ammo here for it. My daughter and I want to shoot a lot this summer. She with her 6.5CM and me with my gun. My per week ammo budget will be significant with the cheaper stuff.

    Introduction...and question

Hi Ed and thanks for your input. Ridgeline seems to be a popular pick. I like the weight and the way they feel. Guys seem to like them. Don't be afraid to give me a holler if you find your way into the Flathead.

    Introduction...and question

Thanks WildRose: I have not looked at the 7mm STW. I thought factory ammo would be an issue. I've never reloaded and I figure my time will be consumed becoming accurate with my gun. I need to learn to shoot as well as I can.

    Introduction...and question

Thanks pburton. Weight is a consideration and I picked up a Ridgeline at a gun store and loved the weight. Thank you for the advice on scopes!

    Introduction...and question

Thanks MudRunner! I bought a little Browning Western Hunter in a 6.5 Creedmore for my daughter and we both love it. I will take a good look at those Zeiss scopes.

    Introduction...and question

Thank you for that Rifleman. I am intrigued with the 28 Nosler but the ammo selection is so limited. Tough is good and I have read that about the Nightforce and they seem to stay zeroed in by what I read. I will look at downsizing my scope for sure! Six hundred yards seems awfully far to me!

    Introduction...and question

I have been on this site for a month or so and want to thank you guys for sharing your knowledge. I have learned a lot. I live in Northwest Montana, where it is steep and brushy. I have shot several bulls, but nothing much over a hundred yards. I want to get set up for longer ranges as I want...
