I sold a XP a little over a month ago. After I sold it I came to conclusion to late that I’d rather have a handgun grip in my hand than cash in my pocket.
My barrel is throated for 150s. I just started load development and have not chrony'd any rounds yet. However, Carson provided me with his detailed load manual showing his fps obtained on barrels from 10" to carbine length. Mine is a 15" tube.
30 Reece developed by Carson Reece around 1982. 38 special +P brass necked down to 30 cal. Carson says he originally developed it for shooting squirrels. Miser on powder, easy on recoil, enjoyable to shoot, and good accuracy.
I can’t go below the dozen without getting the shakes. I did sell my 375 jdj a year or two ago. I’m concentrating on mild mannered cartridges on my contenders or have added brakes to my encore barrels.
I am going to start with a factory XP in 260 REM. I’ve had it a couple of seasons now and haven’t put it to use. Then if it scores, it’s a toss up after that.
