Would also like to know, still working my way through 200 Factory Hornady 225's, but will be setup to load 215's and 230's soon. Seems like I saw a 78gr of H1K for the 230's that was reported to be great.
Berger 130VLDH
Alpha SRP Rem 7 1/2
43.1g H-4350
Stacks em like bug holes and cordwood. Could probably bump up the powder as this load was developed in an AR-10 but I'm lazy and I've already got the dope set on my AXMC/NF.
Yep.
I'd definitely try a 210M primer. I had even better results using SRP Alpha brass and Rem 7 1/2's. 43.4gr H4350 with either primer was lights out though with the 130gr pills.
I agree. The 460 mag I had was more pleasant to shoot than the 454. It's a beast of a cartridge. Can't imagine a 500Linebaugh maximum or something like that.
Same here. The scope just isn't getting it done for me. I had a Red dot on a Ruger Alaskan that was much more effective. I ditched that terd gun though. Hard to go from FA down to Ruger in a wheel gun.
What rail did you use to mount the RDS? I have the same pistol in 7 1/2". Want to take scope off and go RDS.
Shoot me a email/direct message if you want some load data.
Please take a look at this setup, and please be gentle. :(
The Badger rings were mounted direct to the main rail at first, on the last trip out with this rifle I noticed that the shots were stringing high.... turns out the scope was making contact with the hand guard. Doh!
I had the scope...
H4831SC is hard to beat with 225TTSX.
Here's my pet load for my Mark V. Be careful if your chamber doesn't have the Weatherby free bore.
225 TTSX
FED 215GM
H-4831SC 86g
Coal = 3.640 (TTSX like a big jump in my rifle)
Velocity = 2,900
Depending on how hard you want to push it or how little...
