Long range shootings club in Az

There are several clubs at the various ranges throughout the state. Cowtown has the longest range, I do believe. Or are you looking into a "go shoot in the desert" type of club?

Heavy hitting/light recoil elk/moose/griz rifle for the misses

Been away for a while and haven't had the time to reply. I'd like to say thanks to everyone for answering and sharing your opinions. I'm not sure when this project will happen, but after talking a few things over with both her and a few smiths, a plan of action has developed. Going to get her...

    Ranges near Colorado Springs???

When I was staioned at Carson, I always went out to dragonman's. Out east of town along Hwy 94, not even 20 minutes from post if traffic was good. I do not remember how long the range is, 200 yards iirc. But you can always rent a Thompson or a M2 while you are out there if you feel like throwing...

Heavy hitting/light recoil elk/moose/griz rifle for the misses

Well, I've managed to do some figuring out of all this and have narrowed it down to three rounds: 338-06, 325wsm, and 338wsm. The ballistics(from what I can find) seem to be able to fit the role that this rifle would play for all three rounds. I like the current bullet selection available with...

Heavy hitting/light recoil elk/moose/griz rifle for the misses

Thanks for the quick replies all. I decided to browse the web and my reloading manual after I posted and have to admit that neither the 325wsm or the 338-06 had entered my mind prior to me posting, but see like obvious shoe-ins once I glanced at their balistics. As for your comments on the 350...

Heavy hitting/light recoil elk/moose/griz rifle for the misses

Well, it has been a while since I've spent much time on here:(, but thats the joy of a new job:). Thanks to this new job and all the overtime, I will have a new rifle in my hands as soon as the scope gets in(back ordered). During a recent conversation with Jen about this rifle, she hinted at...

    VLD's, ULD RBBT's, SMK's, etc

Re: VLD\'s, ULD RBBT\'s, SMK\'s, etc SES- No worries, we are all here to learn and it is all relative. Bob- Nice to meet you too. Okay, now only 1 person. Kirby- I wasn't sure if some of them had actual velocity ranges or not, just thought I would ask. I think that I am understanding you...

    VLD's, ULD RBBT's, SMK's, etc

Re: VLD\'s, ULD RBBT\'s, SMK\'s, etc Thanks for clarifying that Kirby. SES50 kinda hit it right on the head as to what I was getting at. If I was set up to shoot across a small canyon, say 700 yards, but a deer or elk walked up on me at 75 yards, would the bullet do its job? I am all about...

    Heavy vs. Light Bullets

[ QUOTE ] Plus if she gets to the point that she does not want to shoot the tactical stuff any more, then I have I rifle that I would be happy with. [/ QUOTE ] And the truth finally comes out! All joking aside, go with one of the heavier bullets and you will be okay. Do a search for wildcat...

    VLD's, ULD RBBT's, SMK's, etc

VLD\'s, ULD RBBT\'s, SMK\'s, etc I know that I have read several posts/threads about these bullets used for long range hunting with stunning performance, but I do not remember seeing/reading anything about short range shots. I am curious as to how they perform out of various calibers in short...

    Colorado Hunt Question

Dave, Okay, that is just a Mule Deer buck tag. I am waiting to hear from a buddy of mine who knows a little bit more about that area than I do, and will pass on the info to you. If you do go with your brother, think about picking up a left over doe tag. Alot cheaper with better meat, plus it...

    25-06 + ???? = Good Antelope round

Thanks for the replys all. It sounds like I was kinda thinking along the right lines, which is good to hear. I will pick up a box of the 115gr BT's first and see how those do, then try the 100gr BT's. Will likely finish out a box of 210 before trying the br-2's. Thanks again for your time and...

    Colorado Hunt Question

If you are carrying a pistol or shotgun, no problem. Carrying a rifle, needs to be under 6mm during the regular rifle seasons to be okay. If you are carrying anything 6mm or bigger, you'll likely get a ticket. Exception would be if you are doing some target shooting, but you better have the...

    25-06 + ???? = Good Antelope round

I got about 20 pages or so back and didn't find exactly what I was looking for so here I am posting this: what load should I try? I am figuring that the 115gr NBT would be a solid choice. But what other options are out there? What about either the 100gr or 120 gr wildcat bullets? Good choice for...
