My Trip To Defensive Edge Long Range Shooting School

I took the class a few years ago and had a great time. Shawn has added a few "new and improved" items since then. Wall Tent, TV, meals ... sounds like I need to go again. I is well worth the trip. As far as the cast on his arm goes it just goes to show that he is now too old to drive a 4...

Shawn Carlock built 338 Edge at 1000 Yds

I've owned by .338 Edge built by Shawn for about 3 years now. I've shot it a lot at the range and dumped a few Mule Deer with it out to 620 yards. Our rifle range is 600 yards long so that has been the limit for my normal practice. I had the opportunity to shoot on the 1000 yard range for the...

    338rum build

I have a Shawn Carlock .338 Edge that I had built for the same purpose. I carry the gun all over Montana hunting Elk, Deer, and Antelope. I has an HS precision stock, DE cheek piece, 30" barrel and Shawn's mid sized muzzle break. I mounted a 50mm 5.5 X 22 Nightforce scope and the whole package...

    defensive edge 338 edge!

Shawn is great to work with. You cannot go wrong by trusting him to build you a rifle. I received my .338 edge last fall. It shoots great. After working with it for a month I was able to fill several "B" deer tags this fall at 380, 420 and 521 yards. These shots felt like a chip shots on the...

    Montana Deer and Elk Hunting

You are absolutly correct. I've had the opportunity to talk with many ranchers in Montana and for the most part they are a hard working and couteous bunch. They get a lot of pressure through the hunting season from people wishing to access their land. Most that I have asked have given a...

    Montana Deer and Elk Hunting

First of all if you look at the post I made I noted that it was not just a problem with out of state hunters but in state as well. There are enough idots to go around regardless of where you are from. This is about slob hunters and not about where you live or how much money you have. Now a...

    Montana Deer and Elk Hunting

There is a wealth of great people out here. Get involved with your community, a shooting club and you will find people more than willing to share their knowledge and hunting areas. It is a great place and even with the occasional idot.

    Montana Deer and Elk Hunting

Unfortunatly, the residents of Montana do have thier own idots. Driving their 4 wheelers up the ridges, shooting signs along the roads, poaching animals, and just generally being slobs. It is not just an out of state problem.

    Shawn Carlock .338 Edge Rifle

Thanks for the replies. I looked at the Tac Force Drag bag after I read Shawn's post. I looks like I will need the one made for the .50 cal rifles. A 200 point class Mule Deer! There will be some really good pictures if that happens. Good luck hunting to you also! Mark

    Shawn Carlock .338 Edge Rifle

I recevied by new .338 Edge from Shawn about a month ago and have been putting it and the 5.5 X22 NPR1 scope through its paces while getting ready for hunting season. The gun is outstanding. I had never shot much beyond 400 yards before this summer. Now I feel disappointed if I shoot a group...
