26 at the moment. Boy, I feel like a novice after seeing some of these other guys posts and I've been loading for 51 years. All mine are non-wildcats.

What's the neatest thing you've found while hunting (other than game)

Do you think anyone could "lose" a .408 Cheytac with Nightforce ????

I've killed many many groundhogs with a .243 at 400 yrds+. It's great practice for really long range shooting. I personally would wait for a larger capacity cartridge because I think you might get frustrated with bullet drift with the 6, but that's up to you. What would help you the most now...

Re: What's the neatest thing you've found while hunting (other than game) ? That's pretty awesome kcebcj. Also neat that Despain has kept the area in the family for that long. We need to pass down hunting to our kids and grandkids or our sport will disappear forever.

Howdy Nickm1, Welcome to the forum. In my opinion, almost any high powered rifle is capable of shooting 1000 yards, it's just depends on what kind of style you want to get the bullet there. Typically, you want a HEAVY bullet, not lighter to shoot long distance for the higher ballistic...

We try to keep out thumb on the doggy situation here. Even the Fish & Game seem to "help out" with squinting eyes (off the record). The WASHINGTON Burocrats that made us take the stupid animals aren't real popular.

I've found one screw driver, a brand new leatherman tool, a raincoat that fit me perfectly and a couple flashlights.

This made for a good thread years ago on another site and I get a kick out of what hunters have found in the woods. One guy found $400,000.00 while coyote hunting in New Mexico ! Obviously a drug drop.

Country Bumpkin, We do run across some real handsome mulies up here form time to time but there used to be quite a large supply of them before the CWD killed most of them off. There were quite a few Boone and Crocket records that came from Boundry County at the top of the State.

How Often Do You Hunt Big Game Out Of State?

I live in North Idaho and it's nice to see some flat (flatter) ground than we have here. If you want a level surface here, you make it with a dozer ! Residents usually have one leg longer than the other to stand upright on the hills.

Howdy Country, I'm mainly an elk hunter and only get a deer if we (my son) and I don't score on an elk or two. That's usually enough meat for the year. There are gazillions of acres of National Forest up here (as there probably is down In your area too) and we see a lot of bucks while elk...

Howdy all from the great State of Idaho. I'm new here, but not too new in life anymore. I've hunted for 50 years and shot long range for about 25 of those. I own a quarter section of land here in north Idaho and have 100 to 800 yard ranges set up on the property and a one mile target set up...
