My last hunts were with leaded, but only because it was with a borrowed gun. If I load my own it's a Barnes LRX.

For 600 and under, I think the 130gr class offers the best balance of velocity and BC. For a younger shooter you might even look at something like the Hornady 120 CX or 123 SST.

Not quite as light as some of the Leupolds already mentioned, but if you can snag a used Bushnell LRHS 3-12 they offer a lot of value for the price.

That's true, I've only ever dialed if I was shooting at a place with pretty constant wind. Just out of curiosity, are there any trades you'd be interested in? I'm trying to sell an AR to fund the scope, but if you were looking for one, all the better.

A couple of questions: 1) How would you expect the 7 SS to perform out of a shorter barrel, say 20"? I'm considering a build with a short barrel so that it's not outrageously long when I hang a can on the end. 2) Are dies currently available, and if not, will they be at some point in the future?

The 6.5 Grendel Forum has a lot of load data for different hunting bullets. The 100 gr TTSX is what I load. It's also available in a factory load from Precision Firearms. The 120 also works, but is a little on the slow side.
