If you do spot and stalk hunting in your area I'd encourage you to get as good a glass as you can. It really does make a difference in finding game.

People over think this one. Launch a 140 - 180 gr tsx, partition or bonded bullet at least 2900 - 3000 fps+ in the 6.5/270/7mm/30 cal. rifle of your choice and you're good to go. They're all flat enough to hold on out to 300 and have a foot or less of drop out to 400 yds and that's getting out...

I shot 130 AB's in my 270 this year and the elk was drt, did not recover the bullet, exit wound was about half-dollar size. I was ok with the 130 with a cow tag and hunting in the timber, no long shots to be taken. Next year I'm hunting a bull tag so I'll go to a 150 tsx.

I print it out in a big blocky font, trim it to about 2" square and tape it upside down on the right side of the stock(rh shooter). I tape over it to waterproof it too.
