    Mcgowen vs shilen vs criterion

I have a McGowen 28" SS barrel with a muzzle brake, 1:11 twist in a .300WM matched to a Savage 110 action. Had it for over 10 years and it still shoots +or- 9fps. I cannot believe the accuracy and being able to hit pie plates at 1,300yds. I would highly recommend dealing with them on a custom setup!

    Mcgowen vs shilen vs criterion

I have a SS McGowen 28"with muzzle brake,1:11 twist, matched to a Savage 110 action in a .300WM and it shoots exceptional. Purchased it over 10 years ago. It repeatedly hits pie plates at 1,300yds. Best barrel I've ever had and great people to work with on a build.

Let’s see the rewards of hard work.

After 15 years of trying for a Montana 410 district bull tag, here is my first Bull. There are bigger ones out there, but there is nothing like your first! Missed a great 7x7 at just under 700 yards due to a lack of practice with my rifle. After hitting balloons at 1300yds 3 years ago, I was...

    ATV advice

Just to ask the question, what kind of terrain do you hunt in? I love riding the Montana mountains, so EFI is a must....sometimes we are at 3,500ft and on the same day can be over 10,000ft. Independent rear suspension is a must when going up boulder fields and now that I have a machine that has...

    .37 MOA @ 1356 yds.

Nice shooting Colorado! I know what you describe about the wind...this is my biggest ?? factor. Sometimes I've seen wind blowing right to left where I'm at, no wind in the bottom of the canyon, but a left to right wind on the opposite side. There is no better teacher for me than the school of...

300 Win Mag with 215gr Berger or 210gr LRAB?

I shoot a Berger 210 VLD in both a hunting and target variation with H-1000 powder out of a McGowan 26" barrel with a 1-10 twist. I'm getting exceptional accuracy out to 1,300yds so far with what I believe is pushing close to 2,800fps at the muzzle. (this velocity figure is from memory, so must...

Setting Up Your Scope by Jerry Teo

Hello Jerry, I have done many tests with my current gun setup, but now see from your article that I skipped your dial-up steps to check for canting, and repeatability. I currently use a Carl Ziess 6.5-20 x50 with the Rapid Z1000 reticle with target turrets on my custom .300 Win Mag and have...

I am looking for writers to test - Nikon Spotter, Nightforce scope

Hello Len, I am very interested in testing the Nikon Spotter. My wife and I work together as a team, shooting gong targets in the off season to keep our long range skills as sharp as possible. Working with a high end spotting scope would be a true thrill. We ride our 4 wheeler to distant...

National Forest Maps for GPS and Google Earth

If I was to buy the full state map (say Montana) does that include the detailed info you have for the seperate FS maps, or do I need to purchase that in addition to the PLAT4GPS? Thanks!
