14 red deer with .240 PSP

I am building up a .240 Page Super Pooper. I heard that Warren Page took his .240 PSP to New Zealand and shot 14 one-shot kills on red deer. I would like to find out more details about this, would anyone know where I could find the details of this trip, were they head/neck shots etc as it is not...

6mm 90 grain E-tip or Scirocco on Coyotes

I'd even consider the 90 grain Lapua Scenars if I thought they would consistantly give clean kills on coyotes, hogs and deer. I'm getting good results out of the 150 grain Berger VLD Hunting projectiles in .277 launched at 3300 fps. I'd be launching the 90 grain 6mm at close to the same speed...

6mm 90 grain E-tip or Scirocco on Coyotes

I'm wanting to use just one load and one high b.c. bullet of 90 grains for deer, hogs and coyote in an improved 6mm . Has anyone used the 90 grain Nosler E-tip or the 90 grain Swift Scirocco on coyotes (I know they work well on deer and hogs)? Which of the two works better on coyotes? In a 1 in...

90 grain Scirocco and Ballistic Tip point of impact

Does anyone run both the 90 grain 6mm Scirocco and 90 grain Nosler ballistic Tip out of their 6mm/.243 with the same load, and if so do they have the same point of impact at 100 yards? I'm building a .240 PSP (6mm Remington Improved 28 degrees), the reamer is on its way, the dies are ordered and...

    .244 mashburn Improved 30 degrees

I just had a look at SkyKing's post and it is impressive. I've only shot one black bear at about 80 yards with a 250 grain Sierra GK out of my .338 Win Mag and I still had to chase it into the alders and finish it off with a headshot. With the pronghorn and the 243 AI, again I've only shot one...

    .244 mashburn Improved 30 degrees

As the rifle is to be a normal hunting rifle, I can't see myself shooting much past 400 yards. I thought the optimum weight projectile in terms of flat trajectory vs wind-drift would be around 90 grains, with the 95 grain Berger a good choice. I thought the 105 grain would be better if I were...

    .244 mashburn Improved 30 degrees

I'm building a 25 inch medium taper barrel hunting rifle using a Winchester Model 70 intermediate length action, so I have 3.0 inches in the magazine well. Being a hunting rifle as opposed to a varminter or target rifle, I want it to feed smoothly. That is why I am steering away from the 40...

    .244 mashburn Improved 30 degrees

I have also read that the .244 Mashburn Improved was the most powerful 6mm Remington case based wildcat tested, yet the chamber specs don't seem to back this up. Looking at the specs for the 240 Page Super Pooper, it has a shoulder width of .450 which reduces most of the taper and a shoulder...

    .244 mashburn Improved 30 degrees

Perhaps someone may have the case dimensions for the .244 Mashburn Impoved 30 degrees. The reamer print I have shows a shoulder width of 0.4358 which doesn't seem right to me as the body taper has not been improved much at all. So I am thinking the reamer print is wrong. Anyone with case...

Cooper .17FB from Model 38 to Model 21

I have a CZ 527 Varmint Kevlar in .222, but I really like the walnut stocks such as the Montana Varminter stock on the Cooper. The Coopers are just so astetically pleasing. I also found out that they are not planning to bring out the Model 51 in .17 Fireball. I'm even thinking of buying a Model...

Cooper .17FB from Model 38 to Model 21

Yes, I found out that apparently the Model 38 action had to be beefed up when chambered for the Fireball line of cartridges which wasn't economical to do. Also sometimes loaded rounds were too long for the ejection port if they were not fired when chambered, requiring that the bolt be removed...

    257 wby mag

Yes. If your gunsmith has a throating reamer in that caliber, he can give more free bore by removing some of the lands. I had this done to my 338 Win Mag. so I can seat the longer projectiles out much further, use a few more grains of powder and get higher velocities as the Model 70 magazine is...

Cooper .17FB from Model 38 to Model 21

Does anyone know why Cooper Firearms has moved its .17 Fireball from the extra short Model 38 action to their short Model 21 action? I'm very interested in a Montana Varminter in .17 FB, but would prefer it in the extra short 38 action.

    Pierce Engineering Titanium Actions

I built a 27 1/2 inch heavy barrel rig with a scoped weight of 11 3/4 pounds on the .270 Dakota cartridge for long distance shooting. But for my mountain rifle which has an unscoped weight of 6 lb 2 oz, I used a short action Remington with a 25 inch barrel in .270 WSM.

    Pierce Engineering Titanium Actions

I think you're going too light for a 300 Weatherby, unless you're very recoil tolerant. I also agree with no less than a 24 inch barrel on a 300 Weatherby, even though it's a mountain rifle.
