I'll give another recommendation for JES. I bought a Rem 700 35 Whelen used that is a rebored 30-06, 1/2 MOA shooter with my Barnes 225 grain TSX handloads.

Barnes 225 grain TSX out of my 35 Whelen did the job. 1st shot at 193 yards slowed it down, 2nd shot put it down, 3rd guaranteed it was down for good. none recovered, all pass throughs. I wasn't pushing them at max, 2550 fps shot 1/2 MOA out of my rifle. Same load worked well on a Sitka...

Any idea on the weight?

I have one built on a Remington 700 short action, I bought it that way. I'd recommend a long action, with 120 Nosler ballistic tips I can only fit one into the magazine due to length so it is effectively a 2 shot rifle. I am only pushing mine to 3160 with the 120's so hopefully I get decent...
