I don't even think they're endangered, but after turkey hunting this spring I'd love to hunt an ostrich. The Ginger and Boots probably wouldn't let me, though.
Hornady doesn't make ELD-M bullets in .277 so you don't have to worry about bullets coming apart. I love shooting ELD-M's, but man are they flimsy.
I run berger 170 EOLs @ 3050 and 145 ELDXs @ 3175 out of my 7.5 twist 6.8 Western with no issues.
I'm a relative novice at long range match shooting, but NRL Hunter and PRS matches I've shot were full of helpful and generous people. Almost everybody will give you a hand, advice or lend you equipment. It's a good time
I run a 35 Whelen AI for deer in Iowa. That gun has turned out to be an absolute beast. I get 4k ft-lb energy out of it and the recoil isn't too bad (when managed).
35 whelen factory ammo goes in, fully formed cases come out. No sweat. I do wish there was better 35 Whelen brass on the market...
All of this tipped 9.3 talk gets me pretty excited for a tipped 358. Especially after the expanded HHT selection in .277 that recently hit the market for my 6.8W.
