Anybody running this combo? What powder, barrel length, velocity, and groups?
Any experience with 230gr Bergers in .300 WSM would also be welcome. Same thing, what barrel length, powder, velocity, groups?
Thanks so much yall.
On the -06 case, there is no question IMO - the .300 Sherman is the baddest thing you can put in a .473 long action AFAIK(somewhere around 72-74gr H2O). FWIW, Mr Sherman(aka "elkaholic") himself said the .300 Sherman is capable of 3100 fps with his 190gr SXR bullets. Im not sure of bearing...
Thats not the way I understood it. I heard that some of the bullets at least, the lead core was melting due to sitting in hot barrels/chambers and bullets were blowing en route to the target.
If theres anything Berger knows, its target shooting. Walt Berger was(and still is I believe) an...
You`ll get more barrel life out of the .338.
Other than that, if you want to move up, Id just cut to the chase and go to a .338 Lapua Improved or .338 Edge +P or the like, and push 300s up closer to 3000fps and beyond.
Obviously it would be a lot more trouble than just using SAUM brass, but would it be possible to form down from .300 WSM brass if thats all you could find?
Im guessing you either forgot about or never knew about the .300 Dakota? Same thing, a .30-06 length RUM.
Mr Kirby Allen here on this site already done it, called the 6.5mm Allen Express:
Allen Xpress Wildcats
This aint nothing new folks. The .300 Dakota is virtually the same case...
Somehow I doubt it. Thats 100fps faster than what Mr. Kirby lists as max for his .300AX with 210s which is a .30-338 Lapua Improved and should have just as much if not more case capacity with the ability to run at higher pressures. Granted the Lazz could have some freebore in it allowing for...
Sad state of affairs. Its about like our military in wartime and otherwise really. I support our troops to the fullest and would hate it if any veterans took this the wrong way, but too much bureaucracy can weaken anything. There are some darn-good team leaders, platoon leaders, company...
Barrel life should be better than you expect. If you dont run it at top end pressures then 2500-3000 rounds should be quite doable. That information comes from what GAP is getting with the 6.5 4S which very similar. Thats with 140s at ~3150 fps I believe.
You may not like them. But I would beg to differ with anyone out there that says there exists an autoloader more accurate than an AR. Particularly in the size you are talking about.
If you want one of the most accurate autoloader money can buy, go with a GA Precision GAP-10 or JP LRP-07.
Anybody ever ran a .30-348 Winchester? IMO that would be a sweet round, like a lever-gun magnum. Plus most .348 lever guns were built heavy enough to handle some serious performance.
Or what about a .30-40 Krag Ack.-Imp? Was a .30-40 tube-lever gun ever made? It shouldnt be too hard to do...
Not that Ive ever competed, but looking at Benchrest result/equipment lists, Krieger, Lilja, Brux, Bartlein, are always on there. I would go with one of those listed. Theres not gonna be much difference between all of them anyway. However I would NEVER go with a ER Shaw.
