    Improving the 308 Win performance

Haven't read back on the entire conversation so if you have tried Hodgdon CFE223 I apologize but if you haven't you may get the velocity you seek there. Goodluck!

    Question about annealing

Not just brass. I had a lot of 100 that was off in weight, length and diameter. Not by just a couple thousandth either . Weight was the first I caught though. I contacted Hornady and was told that lot number met specs in factory? That you wouldn't notice the difference when shooting. I replied...

    Daypack Dilemma

I use one of their larger packs for my long range equipment. It's going on 3 years and so far I can't complain. I caught it on sale and it had most of the features higher cost packs had. So my experience with their product has been positive.

A MUST have for me on any hunt, and is always with me.

A little as far as diabetic on my dad's side but most of my problems stem from being shot at close range with a shotgun in right lower flank. Never smoked, very little drinking, ( that was when young). 18 doctors on me and all told me if I hadn't been in the top physical shape I was in, I would...

Glad it worked out and you are still around. Be aware of diabetes, it goes hand in hand with most of the issues being discussed here. Meds can be $$$$. Even with insurance at the first of the year I'm looking at 1200 dollars for just 2 meds. After meeting deductibles it will go back to 300 a...

Is the 243 the best whitetail deer cartridge?

Sometimes I think being an old timer comes with being wiser. Then I realise the little, (wisdom) I have came mostly from mistakes. Some of them painful!🫣🤣

    Improving the 308 Win performance

When talking about the area of America, the thought was distance. Average shots in my neck of the words are between 50 and 200 give or take. An open field or power line/pipeline cut may give more but most keep it well under 400 yards I suspect. Never did a study but from hunting for many years...

    Improving the 308 Win performance

Sure there are other cartridges better at somethings like most everything in life. I think for what it's capabilities are and it's barrel life, it's formidable. Especially for the average hunter in the central to east part of America. Bullets from 125 to 200 plus in weight, varmint to bonded, on...

    Improving the 308 Win performance

I have a tendency to load hot. In my 308, really a little to much so and I have backed it down. I've been shot, (At work, not a thug.😅) and you'd think that would keep me in check. With all that said, everyone has the freedom to load as they see fit. I ask that if you have never saw the video on...

    I’m Making The Switch

This is the Criterion barrel action, in a Stealth chassis for now. I call it, The Javelin because it looks so long and sleek.😅

Not a bad price. Definitely like this over metal. I was checking out GRS Bifrost & Fenris. $355.00. Look a lot alike.

    I’m Making The Switch

Have you any experience with Tikka rebarrel using prefit? I have a .243 Winchester with a 10 twist I'm thinking about tackling. Maybe following suit with Butter Bean.

    I’m Making The Switch

I just put a Criterion S.S 26" MTU on a Savavage 10 SA. When I set headspace I take a couple pieces of brass and load primers in. Load and fire to check for ignition and check primer strike. Load testing now but it looks promising. Cheap American Gunner ran 2750 and good to 1000. My handload is...

What is your baseline zero a dial adjustable scope?

100 for most but I have a .243 I set Mpbr. Reasoning is varmint hunting. I have around 400 before I adjust. Using reticle to 500. With a 100 gr I have taken Whitetail at 425 yrd. I like the Mpbr because of the simplicity in a shot needing to be placed quickly. I range my surroundings to know...
