    Barrels 2020

I have a Douglas XX .308 Rem 700 that shoots good. A few Green Mountain .223 on AR (built of the cheapest of parts mixed together) that shoot sub MOA. An X-Caliber in 243 Win on PSA AR-10 mixed bag of cheap parts that shoots sub MOA with factory ammo and I haven't got to the point of working a...

    First Mule Deer hunt

While I am a fan of the Cummins engine, I am not so much of the shipping crate it comes in. I just took a trip out to WY from KS along the I-80. Ran about 14 going out and 15 coming home. '01 F-150 5.4L. Great territory in the Snowys and Sierras.

Talk me out of a 20 inch 300 Winchester magnum… or not.

There is another way, the bullpup design. The first suppressed rifle I was ever around was at a training, the instructor's wife was behind a suppressed 300 WM in a DesertTech bullpup demonstrating spotter/shooter cues. As I scrambled to dig out my ear plugs, he commented that it wouldn't be...

Starting out a young shooter, who's left eye dominant. Got questions..

I have been through this same scenario. The PSE bows have long since been equipped for bowfishing. The right handed left eye dominate one, probably should have been left handed anyhow, maybe could read his writing.... As was mentioned early, Savage Axis with Boyds stocks, Weaver tactical...

    Comfortable shooting magnum caliber

I shoot a 7 mm Rem Mag. I also have had and seen great luck out of all the standard '06 based cartridges. All are readily available at most everywhere you find ammo. The same can be said of the .308 based cartridges as well.

    What does this grouping mean?

Looks like time to break out the vet wrap and packing foam. Get your cheek weld right. Lay your head completely relaxed behind the scope, on target and close your eyes, after a brief nap ( 5 or so seconds), look again and see where you are. If not on target, change something in your cheek...

Why we need bore guides for cleaning...

Aluminum rods are soft, however aluminum oxidizes in 20 minutes or so to a thickness that will cause paint coatings to eventually fail and can start to show up in TIG welding within the hour (even as poor as I am at it). Aluminum oxide stones are often used for knife sharpening. Just something...

    Mitigating Barrel Whip and Harmonics

Find the area of the barrel exterior. Find the area of a flute, (you need to know the diameter of the ball endmill used). Subtract the width of the flute area (remember you can only measure the chord length) from the barrel exterior area. Add the new area created by the radius of the endmill...

    Mitigating Barrel Whip and Harmonics

Has anyone done any vibration analysis studies? A natural frequency test could allow length to be optimized or dampening provided in the proper location without firing a shot. Many modern cell phones have an accelerometer in them that could be used to find a minimized vibration node to preset...

264 Win Mag - Y would anyone want one?

After growing up hearing all the stories of dad's ported, thumbhole stocked 721 Rem in .264 WM, I would have one. The only remnant left is the case length gauge that I use for trimming my 7mm RM brass, and his stories. His Crack Shot, right up the round brown of a 200# dressed weight white...
