6.5 PRC Ballistics - drops don’t match ballistics chart

If it helps my scope height is 1.77”. Thanks for taking the time to run the calculations. Based on my recent test of colder cartridges I think my actual MV is going to be significantly less than 3100. Based I what I know right now I am going to limit my hunting to 400y. Maybe when I have...

Yes, on my barrel the Magneto Speed shifts the POI up 2 MOA and to the left.

Here is a photo of my setup. I used a pack to stabilize the butt end.

My scope dialed to 25 MOA shot 27.375" 25 MOA = 26.175", so my scope is dialing 4.6% high. How do apply this knowledge in a field situation? I haven't used a ballistics calculator that has this correction. I have the Sig BDX rangefinder, the Hornady 4DOF, and now the Strelok Pro. It looks...

I did notice that the POI for each shot when testing the scope matched the subtention on the reticle. Meaning if I had dialed in 10MOA, the measured distance between the POA and POI was 10 MOA as measured by the reticle. I am not sure how to make use of this information.

One shot at each distance. Then I set the scope turret to 9.75 MOA and shot 3 rounds prone off the bipod. 3 Shot average impact was 12” high

I went the 100y range today. Temp 83F. I started with a POI test with the last zero I used in the colder temp and higher elevation. The impacts were high by the same amount that I altered my zero for the elevation and temp change. I did a tracking test on the VX - 6 scope. At 10 MOA the POI...

I tested the speeds just prior to this trip. The speeds are stable but all the testing was done at SL and 85+F.

I didn't measure the MV at the colder temps. At SL and 85F my SD is 6 and ES 12. I am going to a 100y range today and will try shooting ammo that is at 32F and measure the MV and see if the POI changes. The rifle is a custom built on a Origin Action, AG Carbon Stock, action and recoil lug...

I have 350 rounds down a Proof Carbon barrel. All of those rounds were for load development, practice, and a long range shooting class. I am confident in my loads with the exception that all the load development was conducted at 100y at 85F.

If the RL26 is causing a heavy bolt lift at 85F, maybe the pressure and MV is higher. What puzzles me is that the drop at 600y is exactly what the ballistic calculator say it should be for a MV of 3105.

It is possible that the temperature is an issue. I get a stiff bolt lift at 85F, no issue with bolt lift at the colder temp. I should have used my chronometer to test the MV at the colder temp.

I don’t know what the air pressure is as I don’t have a Kestral. Also where I did my testing there was no cell phone or internet service.
