Impact of bayonet-style chronograph on group size

The Wiser Precision mount is well worth the money. It's well designed and easy to use.

Sell me on a short action magnum caliber

I have a 7 SAUM in a Model 7 and its a great little rifle. I have been shooting 140s because OAL is limited by the mag box. Its not a max load, so the 140 Partition or Accubonds are going just over 3000fps and perform very well on whitetails and hogs.

For all you 30-06 owners, what bullet are you using?

165 Hornady Interlock or 165 Partition over 57.0gr IMR4350 in a 700. About .75" at 100 and really hammers whitetails and wild hogs. 180 Accubonds over 55.0gr IMR4350 also shoot very well and I have some 178 ELDX to try out.

    6.5-06 die set

I have one that I don't plan to use. I think it is a redding, but i will look when I get home. Send me a PM and I'll hook you up.

Remington 700 tight bolt and sticking

I have a 700 ADL in 30-06 in a Boyds stock where the front action screw will prevent the bolt from operation if it is torqued to spec. I haven't gotten around to fixing it because it still shoots great torqued to about 25 in-lb

    Leupold vx-5 HD 3-15x44 HTMR

I picked one up last year and absolutely love it. I like the vertical hash marks that the Windplex doesn't have, just in case. The marks don't get in the way and there is a mark at the half-power point on the power ring, so you can easily use the marks without having to zoom all the way in -...

    leupold 5 hd 3-15x44

I bought one this year with the HTMR reticle. As everyone else has said, its very bright and not terribly heavy.

    7 mm SAUM build ideas

I forgot to mention that the factory Model 7 magazine definitely limits your seating depth with the 7 SAUM. Mine has always shot very well, but I measured the distance to the lands one day and didn't even bother to write it down - it was so different from the OAL that would fit in the mag that...

    7 mm SAUM build ideas

Like N2TRKYS, I have a Model 7 SS in 7 SAUM with the 22" barrel. My load for it is 140gr Partitions at just over 3000fps. I know I could get a little more speed, but it shoots very well, and I'll take the accuracy over a little more speed. I wouldn't say the Model 7 is a long range gun, but...

    Higher than expected velocities

It's doesn't have 5R rifling but is 26". I am using hornady brass and seating to .050 off the lands, which is still pretty far out in this rifle. Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I'm not used to seeing velocity numbers greater than the book - it's...

    Higher than expected velocities

I have been testing loads for my Ed Brown 300 Wm and have been getting velocities that are higher than expected with H1000. For example, 76.0 gr H1000 gives me an average of 2930fps and excellent accuracy with 200gr Partitions, but the Nosler manual shows 2851 fps at a max charge of 78.0 gr and...

    RCBS ChargeMaster vs Lite

I have the Lite and have had a great experience with it. I have not had any problems with the scale drifting once it is warmed up like the instructions say and it almost always throws long grain stick powder(IMR4350) to the exact charge, with an occasional charge .1gr over.

    7 saum

    57.5 sounds reasonable for 154s. My Model 7 7mm RSAUM really like 59.5gr IMR-4350 behind a 139 or 140.

    Bushnell Nitro 4-16X44 any good?

I have two of them, the first focal plane version. So far they have held up well on a braked 300 Win Mag and a 6.5 Creedmoor AR. They seem to be well made for the money and I'm happy with them.
