    6.5 Grendel AR

Work up from 28.0 grains or so. It's slow for the case/bullet combination - you'll probably find efficiency (burn cleans up, vertical spread comes into line) around 29.6 - 29.8 grains. The above is offered ASSUMING SRB118 is indeed the same formulation as AA2520. If this cannot be confirmed...

Help with rra varmint a-4 reloading

I hope the tipped MKs will load to mag length. I have no direct experience with this bullet but I have noted that the TMKs are quite a bit longer than their traditional counterparts. I echo the recommendations for the Hornady 75 and 68 gr. BTHPs. They comfortably load to mag length (I load...

6.5 Creedmoor AI. What will this start?

Don't forget about the 6.5-.284. This case will top 3K in its pajamas with RL-23 or RL-26.

6.5 Creedmoor AI. What will this start?

The .260 AI can get a 140-class bullet to 3,000 comfortably with RL-23. I had worked up to 3,043 fps (avg., 5 shot string) without pressure. My rifle shoots that load well but it shoots really well ~ 2,960 fps. The .260 AI has a substantial increase in case capacity v. the 6.5 Creedmoor...

Anyone shoot a 257 Roberts Ackley?

Whatever's on sale . . . It's a good opportunity to familiarize oneself with the rifle and pop a few crows and such. The 75 gr. V-Max is reasonably priced, as is the Speer TNT, and I've found both to be quite accurate in fire forming loads. Just pick a close-to-max load for the parent case...

Anyone shoot a 257 Roberts Ackley?

My two favorite bullets are the 100 gr. Speer PSP and the 117 gr. Sierra Game King. The does a great job on deer - it holds together very well at the high velocities possible with the AI case and I have found it to be very accurate. Not the best choice for longer range work but it kills like a...

Anyone shoot a 257 Roberts Ackley?

Great round. Properly loaded it's hair-splitting distance from the .25-'06. RL-17, RL-23, H4831, H4350, RL-26, H100V and quite a few other powders work well in the case. Terrific performance on medium game. One of my go-to deer rifles is a .257 AI.

105GR BTHP MATCH IN 243 WIN

They like a bit of jump. Try .015 to .020 off. They shoot pretty well and they are not finicky in the least in my experience. I can't bring myself to sling Berger Hybrids at clay birds - the Hornady 105s do just fine.

25-06 reload recipie for 75gr vmax

I use Hodgdon H-100V for the lighter bullets in the .25-'06. Excellent accuracy in my rifle and the shot string statistics are solid. I would start at 53 grains and work up. I'm at 56 gr. behind the 75 gr. V-Max and getting just a tick under 3,700 fps out of a 28" barrel. That bullet is not...

    Vortex / Sightron Opinions

I have several S-TACs mounted on hunting rifles (three varmint rifles and one deer rifle) and I find them to be excellent scopes for the money. The glass is clear edge to edge, delivers a bright image even at 20X and they track like a top-shelf optic. I have both the MOA-2 and duplex reticles...

    Replacement for 220 Swift

I'll second the .22-.250 AI. Almost identical to the Swift in terms of case capacity and it delivers outstanding accuracy. 75 gr. bullets and RL-26 are a great combination in a 1:9 twist barrel. Brass won't require much trimming, either. The .22 Dasher is another option, if you want...

    New to 6.5-284 Norma

Don't forget RL-23! This powder will produce almost as much velocity as RL-26 and it is as close to unaffected by ambient temperature as powder can get.

    RL22 or RL26 for 300wm?

Nice speed in the Weatherby chamberings, I'll bet. I get 3,300+ fps quite easily with a 105 Hybrid out of my .243 AI with RL-26 and that load is no where near max in my rifle.

    RL22 or RL26 for 300wm?

New poster, long time lurker. I felt compelled to comment on the above. I have heard many say, including Alliant, that RL-26 has a burn rate generally similar to RL-25. I have been working with this powder for a couple of years now in a .243 AI, .260 AI and a 6.5-284 Norma. It does produce...
