I agree and that is why I like the heavy bullets. Even with a bad quartering they still have enough mass to get the job done. But I would rather let an animal walk off than knowingly to take a bad quartering shot.
A blind man could have tracked this deer. Needless to say it did not go very far. Shot placement was a little high. Missed the heart, but still got both lungs.
I shot this 130 lb doe this morning at 403 yards with my 300 PRC with 245 Bergers. I wanted to see how much damage to the meat this would do compared to my 6.5 CM. Although most people would say this gun/bullet combo was overkill, it did minimal meat damage i would guess that this bullet had...
So the N570 performed much better than the H1000. See the chart below that I created from the data (blue is moa and orange is ES). I’ll have to load up some more around that 79 grain node and see where the sweet spot is. I shot this at 500 yards. Notice that the lowest ES also corresponds to the...
My barrel is a 1:8 twist so it should stabilize the 245 Bergers. I loaded up some with N570 and I’ll post the results when I shoot them this Saturday. Thanks for all the advice.
I started at 0.40 and went in 0.03 increments with no noticeable change. If I tried 0.50 or longer I would probably need to back off on my charge. It’s a heavy rifle but I still consider it a hunting rig and I don’t want to single feed bullets. I might try a few a little off the lands just to...
I worked up my load in 0.5 grain increments until I hit pressure and then I backed off a little. The highest charge also coincided with my best group. I played with seating depth some but didn’t see any noticeable change. Mag length limits me to 0.018 off the lands. The ADG brass is on its...
I’ve got a Bergara HMR pro in 300 PRC and I’m struggling to get the 245 Bergers to do better than 1 MOA. I’m currently loading them in ADG brass with H1000 and my average velocity is 2870. I’ve had the +P treatment done on my barrel to get the extra velocity. My question is that I want to...
Caught this one in my garden. He was looking at me and I hit him just above his left eye. 6.5CM with 143 gr ELDX at 70 yards. Never seen an exit hole like this even with my larger magnums.
