What age do you think kids should start shooting?

The 4H Club Organization in our county had a 4H Air Rifle Club which competed with counties in the state that also had 4H Air Rifle Clubs. Nicely organized, safety first, excellent experienced instructors. That's how my son got his start.

What age do you think kids should start shooting?

    That's the parent's decision.

    BergaraHMR

Whenever I acquire a bolt action rifle, whether it's used or brand new. It is "new to me"!!! Consequently, I am curious as to what is beneath the surface to know what I've got. So, I take 'em down and clean everything. Then, using Inletting Ink, (which comes in black and gold), applied to all...

Case trimming machine which is the best for the $ ?

Never used a motorized trimmer. Guess I'm old fashioned, I believe in doing precision work in a methodical manner. That's why I use the L.E. Wilson trimmer. I have a few, some stainless, some with the micro adjust function. I also have the neck turning version of the trimmer which was...

    Recoil Bedding Attempt: Part Deux

Yup, that's what I use now, Accra Release spray. Ordered my first Accra Glass in early 1970 while back on Chu Lai. When I got home, I started working on my Rem 700 ADL. Didn't have all this advice at hand then so made mistakes and learned to fix 'em. These new solutions sure make things easier...

    Recoil Bedding Attempt: Part Deux

I prefer to use stock inletting guide screws. Makes the process much easier. You can make your own by getting/buying long screws/bolts of the proper diameter and thread pitch and cutting off the head to they will slip through the stock action screw holes easily. They are also available premade...

Why factory ammo for barrel break in?

It's one of my Rules!!! Always use factory ammo when breaking in a new gun, rifle/pistol which ever. If things go wrong, not as expected, then your reloading experience/ techniques are not at question in determining responsibility. Example: a local man, ex-Marine, a very, very experienced...

Question on cleaning up old ammo

For those type chores, I use a Stainless-Steel Sponge, which is available on Amazon. I learned about them from using a stainless-steel sponge from AMWAY which is a more expensive item, but same thing. Also available on Amazon. But those listed first work just as well. I have even polished blued...

    Which Hunting Knife

Me too wonderman4. Got my first true German made Puma Hunters Friend in 1963. I earned the whole $9 it cost by cleaning stalls, making hay etc. I carried it a lot of years, lotta deer. I didn't over sharpen it, just careful honing, polishing. Using it on whatever animal was like they had a...

    Peterson Brass Review

Regardless of what one thinks of this brass Mfg., in my opinion, they did what was right, for the customer and them. They did research so as to give their honest opinion. That takes time. Plus, as a result of their research, there is a remedy for the problem. I would be skeptical if their...

    Peterson Brass Review

Patton243 wrote in his beginning post: "The best part is the guy told me my bushing die was definitely not setup right. The funny thing is I'm not using a Bushing die. I'm using a Redding FL resizer non-bushing with a Carbide insert." Did you try a different die? I'm a fan of Redding, and...

    How do YOU fire form?

I size up to the next caliber, size back down to proper caliber creating a "false shoulder", then use the "COW" method. Now I don't have a shooting range, and I don't live close to one either (30min). This adds fuel for travel into the expense equation along with the prices of primers, powder...

Brass Case Head Separation after 6 firings

Is it possible/feasible to buy a hydraulic forming die setup for any caliber of rifle one has???? Conventional, wildcat, any cartridge. For instance, I think it would really be useful in getting a magnum cartridge to headspace off the shoulder instead of the belt.

    Trying to decide on caliber

Given the current reloading supply dilemma, and based on the notices I've gotten as to availability of bullets from retailers, I would go with a .30 cal. With that in mind, plus the history of .30 cal. bullets on Elk etc. the 300 WSM would be my choice.
