.308 SMK Report on Texas White Tail

Do SMK expand on the easy side since they are HPs or on the difficult sise? In other words, do they under-pentetrate as a result of opening up quickly or over-penetrate and punch tiny holes as a result of not expanding? I;m simply curious as to which extreme they fall closest to.

    Bullet Performance

I have read that certain bullets are not recommended for use on big game as a result of their terminal performance becuase they are designed to be used on targets. This includes the Sierra Boat-Tail Hollow Point MatchKing and the Berger VLDs. My question is this. If you are using a magnum...

    Barrel Twist

I keep reading that faster twist barrels are better at stabilizing longer bullets. What are slower twist barrels better at? Why don't all rifles simply come with super fast twist rates?

Does anyone here know where information regarding the maximum case capacity of various carridges (preferrably in grains of water) can be obtained?

History of the 7mm Remington Magnum

Is the 7mm Remington Magnum based on a shortened, blown-out, and necked down .300 H&H Magnum? If so, could 7mm Remington Magnum cases be re-formed to create .264 Winchester Magnum cases and vice-versa?

WHAT CABLIER SHOOT FLATER 7MM-08 OR 6.5 .284

In my opinion, the comparison of the trajectories of the 7mm-08 and the 6.5X284 based on the 6.5mm 140-grain A-Max and the 7mm 162-grain A-Max is very misleading. Even though the bullets are technically of the same commercial type, there is a very significant difference in their Form Factors...

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably get the Savage.

Weatherby Vanguard SUB-MOA vs. Savage 112BVSS

Hi, I am thinking about buying a new rifle for target shooting and possibly some varmint and deer hunting. I am thinking of going with one of these rifles chambered in 7mm Remington Magnum. I'm trying to get as much "out of the box" accuracy as I can without spending too much money...
