Anyone hunting deer, coyote, etc with 6.5x47

No way. My 21" 9 twist Krieger sents the 130's at 2800. If you want 2900 w/ the 130's you will need at least 24". Aggressive reloaders can try RL17 and really stuffing the case (the x47L cases can handle pressure well), but you will burn the barrel out not to mention the brass. An extra...

    Stalking 1 Mile Shot!

Thanks for the great writeup Matt - I printed a copy out for my AAR folder. I fired 58 rounds and collected data on 57 of those. My average range (excluding the zeroing shots at 100yds) was 1184 yds over the two days, and 1277yds on day two. Again excluding the 100yd zeroing, I only took 3...

    6mm Competition Match by MCR

6mm has two big advantages in tactical matches: (1) low recoil, allowing for you to spot your shots and get quick follow-ups off (2) relatively high MVs, affording the bullets a nice flat trajectory. This pays off big in UKD (UnKnown Distances), especially when you have to mill the target to...

    6mm Competition Match by MCR

makes a helluva tactical match cartridge too.... nice work Kevin. Sticking w/ 6.5 for now, but 6mm certainly competes with the best.

    Nightforce vs. U.S. Optics?

I own four USO's and have looked thru many NFs. Glass-wise, they are the same, both very good (not S&B excellent, but right below them). What sets the USOs apart for me is two facts: (1) you can get them custom built exactly how you want them. Lots of reticle options, lots of different...

    6.5x47 Lapua Build Suggestions

Kevin builds some great rifles. I have a buddy w/ two and they are tac drivers. Kevin is also supporting Mayberry MD precision matches with a great prize for our prize table, so he is a great asset to the shooting community.

    600-800yd hunting rig

Dan- Did you test H-1000 and/or H4831sc in your SAUM? I'm building a SAUM but was going to test those two powders before Retumbo. Of course, your MV w/ Retumbo is very attractive for a 26" barrel (my barrel length). thanks for any comments. -James

    6.5x47 Lapua Build Suggestions

It's almost impossible to develop a bad load for this cartridge. Lapua brass and Berger bullets make it too easy....

    6.5x47 Lapua Build Suggestions

Good comments AZShooter. I can attest to this statement. 6.5L is SUPER easy to load. Nothing I tested was much more beyond 0.50moa at 100 in development. Even a loading dumbie like myself can easily develop 0.25moa loads without much effort. As far as the one brass source on both the 6.5L and...

    6.5x47 Lapua Build Suggestions

8 twist, 26", Hart, and 41.7gr of H4350 gets you around 2925fps with the 130gr VLDs. Contour is based on how much you want the gun to weigh and how much precision is required. Very accurate cartridge and with a good barrel and contour, sub-0.5moa super easy to acheive. Good luck w/ your build!

    Berger bullet in AR

I'm Trebark's buddy. So I shot the 70gr Berger VLD, mag-length, out of my 20" AR (8 twist) at close to 3000fps in summer. The 70gr Berger has an OAL a bit shorter than the 77gr SMK and there are no problems with the ogive/bearing surface junction and the case neck. If you have Litz's book...
