bedding - work back from the shop

So I hope to close out this thread very soon. I don't recall if I posted, but I did engage with the shop that did the work after I discovered what it was going to cost to fix it. Long and short, I demanded that they make reparations to me as a result of the botched job and they appear to have...

bedding - work back from the shop

So question... in the Tikka, the lug is built into the stock and without bedding would be removable/replaceable. I have no experience with this sort of work but my gut tells me in looking at it that I would want it rock solid. If I were going to do it, I would expose what I believed to be an...

Click on the link to see the image of my gun. I suspect that you are referring to the work of another member.

bedding - work back from the shop

I'm floored... at (a different) shop. The recoil lug is loose and the front pillar isn't true or making contact with the action.

What do I do now? I wasn't going to engage the shop again as 1. I knew I would just get upset 2. I didn't think they would take me seriously 3. I don't think they would put any more care into remedying the situation. ...but I did send them an email. I do not expect to hear back. It was...

    Bullet drop, unexpected results

I used the Hornady calculator and backed into the number based on the 10" drop from 200 to 300 yards. I landed on a MV of 2525 fps to make that drop occur. Interestingly, it predicted that I was shooting 2.4" high @ 100 yards which is absolutely correct. I will take a chrono to it and see...

    Bullet drop, unexpected results

I am shooting a tikka t3 in 270 win. I am zero @ 200 yards. Shooting factory ammo out to 300, sighted in dead on, the bullets will hit dirt. The loads that I am making drop about 10"... Most of the factory rounds that I've seen call for between a 5-8 inch drop. I am guessing that factory...

rcbs dies for reloading berger vld bullets question

Does the same apply for hornady dies as well? curious, I noticed there was not consistency to the seating height when it came to these bullets- I had to measure every single one (so I suspect that it does apply).

Comparing the two.... yours looks like proper work. Mine still has green play dough in it. The guy that did it, didn't need any hands to count how many f*cks he gave about his work. I hate myself for not doing it on my own.

Your work looks way legit. I would have been happy to have it. This, not so much. Full disclosure, it was $150... I am not impressed. It does shoot though... I hate to admit.

bedding - work back from the shop

Results back from the range. It appears to shoot no better or worse now compared to its original form. I shot both my favorite reloads (58gn H4831 + Nosler 130gn accubonds) as well as known factory ammo that performs well (hornady 130gn american hunter) and both 3 shot groups landed around...

bedding - work back from the shop

Question for the group. I have a rifle that I recently bought a aftermarket wood stock for. The quality of the stock was as expected (mass produced) and I wanted to put some work into it to make it as good as it possibly could be. After having conducted some online investigation, I...
