I leave Friday for a 3-day guided cow elk hunt in Utah. It’s a landowner tag and the hunt cost is $2000 plus another $300 in licenses and fees so far. I picked cow elk to keep the cost down because I’m time limited and I just want meat and a little experience. I’ll let you know how it goes...

I still use Advocare Spark after being awake 3-4 hours. It doesn’t make me jittery, forces me to drink more water, and tastes good. First drink of the day is still typically Liquid IV, followed by coffee, just to try and get rehydrated after not drinking for 6-8 hours (sleeping).

I have a rifle for deer, a different rifle for hogs, and a third for elk, and a 4th for long range plinking The back-up gun for all four is the same .308. It’s also my loaner. That’s why I think you should have one.

FWIW, you can use FSA money to buy first aid kits and supplies. End of the year is almost here and things are going on sale, so…. I carry an Adventure Medical Trauma kit and have a bigger GP kit in the truck. My hunting isn’t in very remote areas, though.

Better question would be why 7RM when there is a 280 AI. The obvious answer to the original question (and the .280 question) is “cause ‘Merica!!” We don’t need no stinking metric calibers! 🇺🇸💥😉

Thank you. I was debating trying this in 280AI or maybe 6.5 Grendel, but I’m not sure the burn rate would work for the Grendel.

So I’ll ask the newbie question: what do those three cartridges have in common that makes them suited to that powder?

I have a box on Nosler 140 HPBTs for the break in. After that, I’ll try a variety and see what it favors until such time as I can get set up to reload.

Current planned optic is a Bushnell Forge 2.5-15x50 in Riton mounts (thought I’d give a new company a shot). I’m thinking about a rail vs a two-piece mount for the base.

Just picked it up today. Gorgeous rifle! The balance is great, the action is smooth, and the finish is really nice. I can’t wait to get some glass mounted on it and take it for a spin. Thanks again Tim!
