Do we overvalue sentimental value of our guns?

First I want to thank FigJam for this great thread it has been a very interesting one for sure, and I want to say I'm sorry to WindSurgeon for my poor attempt at humor for such a sad post on his very great family pieces. I was only trying to put a smile on a very sad story. After rereading my...

Do we overvalue sentimental value of our guns?

I think you may be missing the point. It's not the money were talking about, it's something worth so much more than that. I'll let you figure it out.

Do we overvalue sentimental value of our guns?

Wow! What a way to start my day reading this. I'm on the dark side of 70 and have always put a lot of value in things from my Dad, Mother and all my family. I see how much things have changed in what younger people value and it does bother me. I've been to a auctions where I had to step back...

Wet tumbling brass - why is my brass getting tarnished?!

I also use Meguiars wash and wax. It's the best thing I've found, it cleans well and makes for some great looking brass

Converting 308 brass to 6.5 creedmoor? anyone try this? suggestions please.

The Creedmoor case is made from a .300TC not a .308. I have a few years back read that there was a way but I would just stick with buying the brass and you will be better off for it.

    help trouble shooting chamber issue

Remington is not the same old Remington. I am with the others here telling you to send it back. Remington had my son send his to a gunsmith twice. The smith told him Remington had a problem with chamber issues now. Remington finally had the smith send it back for him and he got a new rifle that...

    SOLD/EXPIRED Brass brakeing

A short answer to your question would be use a full length resize die and set the shoulder bump for the .001" to .0015". Get you a set of calipers and a bump gauge for your caliber rifle and measure the shoulder on a fired case with the bump gauge. Then carefully measure the shoulder bump as you...

    SOLD/EXPIRED Brass brakeing

Go to stevespages.com/diagnosing problems , there is a good article that will help you figure this out. It basically says any of these may cause it, over bumping the shoulder, over working the brass, excessive trimming and reloaded several times. He has some good pictures there of cutaway...

    .300 Winchester Magnum "Match Ammo"

Feenix, I don't have the measurements near me, but I jump the 208gr A-max I believe .035 in my rifle. I do know your length is quiet a bit longer than mine but without going into my notes I cant remember how much. There again is the reason for measuring to the lands in each rifle, they are all...

    .300 Winchester Magnum "Match Ammo"

The lighter bullets are going to have a shorter coal vs a heavier one, but the length to the Ogave can be the same. That is why your bullet stuck in the barrel, the Ogave was to far out because the coal was to long for that grain weight bullet. Feenix shows a load with his calipers that has...

    .300 Winchester Magnum "Match Ammo"

Yes I did experiment with length, and it does make a big difference. I measure the length of my loaded rounds from the base to the Ogave now no matter the type bullet for all my loads. I may check the over all length every now and then but the length to the Ogave is the main measurement I use...

    .300 Winchester Magnum "Match Ammo"

I have a 1 in 10 twist on my 300win mag and had real good results with Black Hills Gold match with 190gr SMK's I bought 4 boxes of Black Hills and 1 box of Federal Match with 190gr when I first got it. But my rifle liked the Black Hills a little better I believe. The heavier bullets did better...
