This past winter I did a test of 300WM Winchester brass in my Ruger PR to see how many loads I could get from this "cheap brass". I pay close attention to neck tension....usually try for a .0015 neck tension in all my rifles. I minimally neck size with a Redding bushing die only to the point...
This bench looks remarkably similar to the one I built 5 or 6 years ago. I decided to use only 1 leg in the rear to make it more stable when the ground is not level.....which is true about 100% of the time. 4 legs will always rock one way or the other....3 legs will stabilize as soon as they hit...
I built my portable bench with three legs and it's rock solid wherever I set it. I even put three legs on my stool for the same reason. Four legs will always rock unless your legs are exactly the same length and the ground is perfectly flat.
I use HBN coating for all my bullets with the exception of lead tipped. I use 2 40 oz plastic peanut butter jars which fit perfectly between the flats of a thumlers tumbler barrel. Bullets coat perfectly in 1 1/2 to 2 hours tumbling time. Using win brass and CFE223 powder I am getting 2875 fps...
Upacreek.....certainly agree with your reasoning. I love all kinds of shooting....tho I have lost my taste for competitive shooting over the years.....too much stress and not enough fun. I have found myself headed for the wide open BLM land with my steel targets and long range rifles when I want...

So far I have used both the vld target and hunter in 168 and the 180 Hybrid....all bullets were seated to within .005 of lands........accuracy has been consistent sub 1/2 moa and no excessive pressure within the loads I have listed.
Just got back from the range after shooting some test loads w/180gr Berger Hybrids
Load was 71.5gr Retumbo, Fed210M primer, bullets seated to within .005 of lands. All 4 5-shot 100yd groups were sub 1/2 moa. Average velocity was 3130fps out of 29" bbl with SD of 9fps. Tried 72.0 gr of Retumbo...
