With an accurate load like that i personally would call it good until you re-barrel, or switch to the vld, should be plenty of bang for your intended use IMO...

+1 with Scrubbit, my only complaint with my pst 6-24x50 is the parallax marks are off at short range also, still easily tuned in though just not at the exact yardage markings...

For your intended use the 270 wsm with a 1 in 9 twist, and the 165 matrix vld is hard to beat... I would re barrel back to 270wsm with a quality barrel, I prefer brux... Barrel life is close to the 7 wsm but with proper cleaning and care a hunting rig could last a lifetime... JMO

Berger book lists h4831sc at 49.5 start with 2699 fps and 52.2 max with 2847, imr 4350 45.5 start with 2681 and 48 max with 2812. test barrel is 26". With berger 140 vlds, lapua brass, fed 215GM, and 57 gr retumbo i got 2950 out of my savage 116 6.5-248 24" barrel same results as others are...

An easy out from your local auto parts store will remove it, some times you can get a torx bit that is just slightly larger and tap it in with a hammer carefully to get a bite on a striped allen bolt/screw...

My last 100 6.5-284 lapua were the same and after they were once fired they primed a lot smoother.

Berger lists 130 gr vld imr 4350 max load 48 gr 2812 fps ( 26" barrel ), so you are close to bergers data. I personally dont think 4350 needs a mag primer but you can always try one... If you do try mag primers I would recommend backing off your charge weight 10% and work back up just to be...

I would take a look at the matrix 107 and 117 gr. vld also...

What velocity are you getting? What book are you getting your data from?

A little more info on your setup would help to better answer your question... In my case yes I did see a little more velocity in my 6.5-284 with fed215Ms but pressure was higher and I had to back the load off a grain using Retumbo.

My vote would be for the 6 x 284 with 105 vlds

Brent I measured my once fired cases and they all average 1.922, and unfired lapua brass measures the same as yours 1.879 That is much longer than i expected does this mean that my riffles chamber could have excessive head space issues? After partial neck sizing they chamber just fine no bolt...

M82cam how did your hunt go? I was up there most of the hunt around both forks of the blacks fork... It was a tough hunt this year we were into elk the first weekend but after that we never could get back onto them again. All the fresh tracks we found were heading down hill and north to Wyoming...
