Seems like a great choice for pigs

If you hunt hogs very much you will end up with imperfect angles, Texas heart shots, long range shots, and ever now and then a 400+ pounder. .243W is a minimum effective cartridge. Don't get me wrong, I've killed plenty with a.223/5.56 and 62 grain bullets when we've hunted at night and the...

    25-06 for hogs!

If I were buying another 6.5 it would be the .260 Rem. I had a 6.5 Creed and sold it to a girl at church. It didn't chamber smoothly, probably due to the sharp shoulder. It was accurate. A Savage 16 WW.

    25-06 for hogs!

Never shot one with a .25 but my daughter killed the biggest ever Russian hybrid with a 100 grain NP out of her little .243W Savage 110. .25-06 is bigger and badder than the .243. We kill a good many with .223.

    308 bullet for hogs???

I shot a big one with a Hornady 178 BTHP Match that I inadvertently loaded. Killed him in place with a shoulder hit. I like a heavy bullet so I can kill them with a Texas heart shot if necessary.

    308 bullet for hogs???

I like the 180 SST. Accurate, deadly, and heavy enough to do the job if a really big one shows up. It can happen.

    Favorite hog gun

For shooting over a feeder Weatherby Vanguard 2 in .30-06 with a good 180 grain bullet, usually SST or Speer Hot-Cor RN. For times when multiple shots are expected at large groups, AR15 loaded with 62 grain Barnes or Hornady 62 grain BTHP. Believe it or not the Hornady bullet seems to kill as...

    6.5 Grendel AR

Neighbor showed up with some 129 Nosler ABLR bullets and AR Comp powder. This combo loaded in Hornady brass and Fed primers and COAL of 2.250 didn't do as well as factory Hornady 123 SST. We experimented with the SRB 118 powder and worked up to 28.5 grains and shortened COAL to 2.240 with very...

Ship problem grizzlies from wyoming to california

Turn them loose in the Berkeley Hills. Maybe they will drift into town and develop a taste for left wing anarchists. A lot of illegals are working and not causing trouble.

    6.5 Grendel AR

Thanks for the replies. I have told my friend to get some 8208 powder and some 123SST bullets. His rifle arrived and shoots factory Hornady 123SST pretty darn good, as in 1/2 inch at 100 yards. Not bad right out of the box and with a VX1 3X9 scope. He found some place offering 100 free Hornady...

    6.5 Grendel AR

I have some powder labeled SRB 118 made by the Czechs. It is reputed to be AA 2520. Does anyone here know anything about loading this powder in a 6.5 Grendel? My neighbor is putting together an AR 6.5G and wants me to help him load 120 - 123 grain bullets. I am experienced with loading .223 on...

    Wolves in southern Missouri??

People all over the country own "domesticated" wolves some of which are allowed to run loose and some of which escape. Reckon they might be breeding or breeding into the local coyotes?

    30-06 for wolf hunting

Thanks, I'll look there. My most accurate loads are 56 grains of IMR 4350, Win LR primers, and Lapua brass out of my Weatherby Vanguard SS with 24" barrel and 49 grains of IMR 4064, CCI primers, and RP brass out of my 1980 vintage Rem. 700 classic which has been re-barreled with a 25" Douglas. I...

    30-06 for wolf hunting

? Is the Scenar an adequate hunting bullet for mid-size to big game hunting? I've shot large feral hogs and WT deer for years with a 30-06 loaded with 150 SST at about 2800 to 2850 fps MV. In the past year I loaded some 155 Scenar with the same powder charges and happily found that they hit so...

    6.5 Creedmoor and Barnes

I've had good luck with accuracy and velocity using Barnes 120 TSX and 123 Scenar. The Barnes 120 load is 40.1 gr. Varget. The Scenar 123 load is 39.7 gr. Varget. Both loads are loaded with Federal Match Primers and Hornady brass. The rifle is a Savage Model 16 Weather Warrior

This wolf made it quite a ways...

I was at the Pine Ridge Indian Rez in South Dakota in June 2012. A collared wolf from Yellowstone showed up dead beside the road while we were there. Never did hear if a car got him or a Lakota bullet. He had made a pretty long trip, probably over the Bighorn Mountains. Smoke a pack a day.
