    Cleaning Tumbler and Pins

Long time ago when I was still pulling cases out of the pins by hand I noticed my hands got dirty. Figured that shouldn't be so I looked at the pins. Not shiny silver but a grey color. Ran the pins only with Zep purple cleaner. Back to shiny silver. I think it was the lanolin lube I use. Started...

A hot topic, how do you get a hot piece of brass

I bought an Annie a few years ago and just love it. Very fast. You have to figure out how to cool the coil and move the brass yourself. I used a small CPU water cooler with a fan to cool the coil, Very easy to do. I made a small 'trap door' to drop the brass into a wire basket after annealing...

    Locks for your gun safe

You can buy a new G&G 6730-100 from Amazon for just under $120. EBay also has them. There are some better S&G combos out there too. I have replaced two old ones (really old) and it was easy. They provide instructions on how to set the combo you want and the tool to do it with. Not had a problem...

    Locks for your gun safe

You can buy a brand new S&G 6730-100 on Amazon for about $120. You can get them on EBay also and some higher end S&G also. I have replaced two old ones and they are great.

Hornady Custom Comp 7mm-08 Die issue. What do you think is going on here?

I spray my cases with lanolin/alcohol mix that I made up. Cases are dumped on large cookie sheets and sprayed from all four sides. Not a ton of spray but some gets inside the case neck and it always works. Lube works it's way all around the case and the alcohol evaporates quickly. Works perfect...

Hornady Custom Comp 7mm-08 Die issue. What do you think is going on here?

I polish the ball with 1200 grit. Really clean brass, like fresh from the pins, is worse than dirty brass with carbon in the neck. If you can get a carbide expander it usually stops.

    Forester coax or MEC

You will need to replace that part for the press to work. There are heavier duty aftermarket parts too. You can't pull out a stuck case. Once the jaw holder is bent it's toast. If you forget to lube or not enough lube, don't force it. Use a small pocket screwdriver to open the jaws and lower the...

    Forester coax or MEC

Been reloading for almost 50 years. Tried about every brand of press out there. Redding, RCBS. Ponsness Warren, Hollywood, CH4D, Hornady and even custom made. Bought a Co-Ax a few years ago and will never let it go. As long as you are not into super long rounds (I load 338 Lapua on mine) this is...

    Looking at new presses

The co-ax is a great choice. Have a lot of different presses that are single stage and a Ponsness Metallic 2. I use them all now and then but I really love loading on the co-ax. All my 338 Lapua is loaded on that press. The PW press is left set up for 50 Beowulf and the Big Max gets used some...

    Stainless Pin Tumbling "too clean"?

I have used ss pins for a long time and cleaned over 100,000 cases. I have a large tumbler, 20 gallons. I use 25 pounds of pins and Hornady sonic clean as the cleaner. It only takes two tablespoons. All of my cases look great except 50 BMG. They were beat to death. Figured out it was the cases...

Forster coax press...should I buy one?

Over the years I have owned and used a lot of reloading presses, Hornady, RCBS, Hollywood, Ponsness Warren Metallic 2 and the Co-Ax. By far the Co-Ax is the best. My old RCBS Rock Chucker was pretty good, not too much slop and well made. My Big Max is really tight too. My Ammo Master for 50 BMG...

    Lemi-shine tarnish fix?

First, look at your pins. If they are not bright shiny and appear a dull grey they are dirty and need to have the lube cleaned off of them. I used that purple cleaner to clean them. Second, if you lube the cases for sizing wash if off first with a bit of Dawn and hot water before tumbling. I use...

    Upgrade press too what?

Forster co-ax. You won't find a stronger, more accurate press that stays clean. The leverage is the best of any of the single stage presses. Only had mine a few years now but I wish I had bought it long, long ago. I've had just about every press out there and this is the best I have ever owned.
