Thanks for the load info and the results. I'm planning on working up several loads and I'll try this one as well. Good stuff! Thanks again for the reply and helpful tips!
Thank you very much! All great info to know. I sighted the rifle in with Barnes 117 grain Nosler partition bullet. It was very sunny and very windy. My eyes aren't what they used to be and I didn't have a good day on the range. Next visit will be with the Lead Sled on a less windy day.
I aim to get into handloading. The used Lee loading press is in a box and I've never assembled it. Guess I need a handloading class to get into it. Thanks for the 'cheat sheet' I'll come back to this and try it.
Dosh, Hey thanks for the input! I really like the heavy bull barrels on my REM700's even have a 22-250 in the old REM788 with a heavy barrel. This Kimber is the thinnest barrel I've ever seen. Definitely, not a bench rest gun, but they say they can shoot! We shall see! Thanks again for the wisdom.
Recently had another rifle follow me home. Hate it when that happens. When it got home I realized it was a Kimber Montana 84L chambered for the 25-06.
Now I've read plenty of articles on that round for deer and med size game, but not much on yotes. I'll always be a 22-250 guy but like to...
Thanks Greywolf,
I'm thinking of getting a RockChucker single stage. I've never reloaded before- but times are getting tight. Are you using a heavy bullet?
Thanks guys. I had been looking at Hornadys 75 grain BTHP Match load. I'm realizing great groups at short ranges. Now it is time to go out further than I am comfortable shooting and see what my AR can do.
I basically have a bowhunter's mentality- I try to draw them in or let them work their way...
When I bought my DPMS AR-15 several years ago I bought several thousand rounds of FMJ. I've also tried Remington 55 grain. I realize every gun is different, but have any of you found a .223 round you've found to be exceptional out of the AR platform.
I am most interested in coyote size...
Glad I was directed here. All I've ever heard is trash talk about Rugers. That being said I just had a gun dealer sweet talk me into a Ruger Hawkeye chambered in the .264 Win Mag. Yes I know ammo is limited and that I don't have a 24 inch barrel.
What I do know is there is hope for a lowly Ruger...
Why not the .264 Win Mag? I know there is not a wealth of factory ammo for this overlooked caliber, but I've read that handloaders do well with it in a 26 inch barrel.
I just picked up a Ruger M77 in this caliber. Unfortunately, it is a 24 inch barrel, but I will see what the lost velocities...
