I have a gunwerks 7 LRM. Most accurate rifle I have. Mine shoots 180 Berger Hybrids at 3037 FPS and I’ve taken deer from 80-300 yards (5 deer total). Not one deer left it’s tracks after the shot.

Agree. I have a gunwerks rifle in 7 LRM that shoots 180 Berger hybrids at 3,037. Most accurate rifle I have. Never had an issue with the brass.

My son has the same and that rifle shoots crazy accurate with the hybrids.

The brass we have is stamped Gunwerks. Is this the brass you guys are referring to ?

Yeah I get it. But I didn’t understand why lots of the responses in this thread were suggesting a 300 mag over the 6.5 when the numbers really don’t support that at 1,000 yds. The 180 is pretty standard in the 300 mag. as a hunting load. Either way, good info and appreciate the response.

They were pretty much the same starting velocity. I understand what you’re saying just didn’t realize they were so close. The 6.5 was over 1800 FPS but the 300 wasn’t.

I looked at the ballistic calculator today and noticed that my 6.5-284 140 VLD load has more velocity than the 300 win mag shooting 180 Bergers at a 1,000 yards. The 300 only had about 100-150 fpe more than the 6.5 at this distance. Doesn’t seem like the 300 win is that much more of an...

Anyone know how these perform on Whitetail deer size game ? My son just purchased one and wants to hunt deer with it. His rifle shoots them at 3,037 fps and shoots them very good. I know the 140 vlds work well but think the hybrids have a thicker jacket so not sure if they expand well or not.

I have a Gunwerks 6.5-284 and the gun was worth every penny IMO. Their customer service is great if you ever need anything.

Well looks like some people like it and some don’t. Everyone has their own opinion based on their experience. I looked at the ballistic and ran the numbers and they seem to work for what I’m doing. That being said, I will plan to take the rifle elk hunting and see for myself if it performs...

Appreciate the input. I don't plan on shooting an elk at 1k but I wanted to know if the cartridge was good for it just for peace of mind. If its good at 1k I should be great at 500 or so which would be a personal limit for myself. I shoot quite a bit at 1k at targets but understand shooting at...
