    Aluminum vs. Steel Picatinny Rails

There's an old saying "you don't bolt and weld. Either bolt, or weld". I'm a bit differnet about epoxies. When I need an extra "grip" I like to just just a smigent of Red Permatex RTV on the threads and under the head of the screw. It helps prevent loosening up due to vibration, but more...

    Aluminum vs. Steel Picatinny Rails

I'll flatten. Think of it as a shallow keyway.

    Aluminum vs. Steel Picatinny Rails

Umm, no. I'll machine out a shallow (.03) slot for the rail to fit in on the receiver, then drill and tap down the rail into the slot. Easy when your making the rail. Just mill to match.

Or silver soldering in a stainless rail milled at 20moa :D. I'll bolt it in. Not quite so dang permanent that way.

    338-375 Ruger Demon

Thanks for the numbers. Reloading by brail is a rather tough way to figure out pressures. Once upon a time long ago, I messed around with silver soldering 17-4ph machined 30/06 case heads onto the body of a wildcat 6mm case. The case had two shoulders, each with a different powder and paper...

    Aluminum vs. Steel Picatinny Rails

Thanks. I guess I'm more concerned about the rail getting loose over time due to the different changes in movement. I'll dig around the shop and see what I can find. If I can come up with a 400 series stainless bar, then I'll go that route. If not, then I know I have some 7075 on hand from an...

Interesting, but it does not address the question. How much expansion are you looking for on the case head to determine acceptable working pressures on the 375 Ruger based Wildcats?

    Aluminum vs. Steel Picatinny Rails

Greetings, I’ll be adding a Picatinny Rail Mount on a rifle but I do have a question. Most Picatinny Rail Mounts come in one version or another of aluminum. It just seems like the difference between thermal expansion between aluminum and steel makes an aluminum Picatinny Rail less accurate than...

    338-375 Ruger Demon

Greetings, I've gone through this thread looking for loading data, as along with therest of the world am also playing around with the 338/375Ruger. What has me puzzled so far, is the repeated phrase "no signs ofpressure" without any reference to measurement. When I build up a wildcat load...
