    Pulled Button Rifling

I've got several Bartleins, a couple of Kriegers, Mullerworks, Lilja, and a bunch of Criterions. To be honest, the Criterions probably consistently shoot the best. They're also the cheapest and I can install them in about 20 minutes since they're on my savage and Bighorn actions with barrel nuts.

204 or 223 for Prairie Dogs

I have two 20 practicals. I also have a 204 ruger but it sits and the 20 practicals get used. Cheap brass is the biggest advantage, it’s so simple to neck down 223 that forming is a non issue. The 20P and 204 are pretty much identical in performance but putting together 1000 rounds of 20P is...

    Optika 6 VS. Veracity

I have a veracity 5-25 with the MAD turrets. I don't have an optika 6 but do have other Meopta's. The burris is mechanically sound and tracks good but the glass is lacking, so much that I took it off of one of my prairie dog rifles and replaced it with a sightron 6-24. I just can't get past...

    Scope resting on rail

Those rings are fine and I've used them for years on several rifles without a hint of problem from any of them. I wouldn't want the scope touching the rail like that, it has to impart some upward pressure even if it's just kissing. I'd either file the center uprights as mentioned or go to a...

    Best repeatable optics under 1k

Sightron SIII is the best I've found for a reasonably priced scope with good glass and dead nuts reliable tracking.

    Hornady OAL Gauge case question?

I've got the tap for the correct threads and have made my own in the past but it's a bit of a PITA to drill and tap them. Any more unless it's a weird round that's hard to find I just buy their modified cases. The difference between the modified case and one fired in your chamber is only going...

    Availability of H1000 and Retumbo

I have a couple of buddies that are shooters too and collectively we go through enough powder to make the hazmat fee on a powder valley order worth it. The max on one order is 48 lbs & on my big rifles it doesn’t take that long to go through an 8 lb can of H1000. Combine that with a lot of...

    Upgrade press too what?

Forster co-ax if you want the best.

Best scope for a beginner in long range shooting

Consider the Sightron SIII LR series scopes too. Great glass and reliable tracking, very good budget long range scopes.

    .243 Win. vs 6mm Creed.

I put a 6mm creed 7 twist criterion barrel on a bighorn origin action and it shoots everything into tiny holes. I vote creed because it's short enough to fit in a short action with heavy bullets, the 243 limits you in length when you've got long bullets. I can't see anything the 243 does...

Lets Discuss “Range Etiquette” for a moment!

My range is the pipeline going through my land, I can shoot to 1170 yds. I'm lucky too, if I had to deal with some of the public range antics mentioned in this thread I'd take up golf or just sit by the fire and drink. My tolerance for obnoxious behavior is at an all time low and it doesn't...

    Opinoin of Vortex Optics

I see Vortex as pretty much being the polar opposite of Sightron. Vortex markets outsourced mostly Chinese stuff under their label and spends big money on advertising. Sightron builds most of their own scopes in Japan and spends very little on advertising. Sightrons lineup is much more...

Nightforce vs Huskemaw or something else in that price range??

The new nightforce NX8's will be getting a look from me, they look pretty amazing. I've never had a vortex so can't comment on them, but those recommending burris as an alternative to nightforce are off base. I just got back from a prairie dog hunt and promptly removed my burris veracity 5-25...

    6.5 bullet suggestion

I have a 1000 ct box of 123 gr. Scenars that shoot great in everything I throw them through. They might be a bit easier on the shoulder for a young girl than the heavier bullets.
