With a 270 dont use over a 130 gr with a 1:11 twist. Its really the bullet length, not weight that matters. Take it from me, that its likely a 130 gun. Nothing wrong with that.

The 200 gr Terminal Ascent stabilizes perfectly in my Tikka 300 Win Mag with a 1:11 twist. Its killer.

I bought a Henry Long Ranger in 308 a couple of years ago. It was a beautiful rifle, but about a 4 MOA rifle. Maybe OK for elk at close range! I sold it. I had a Marlin years ago that I was very happy with.

I have learned that for anything over a 270, I need 35 in lb of torque. The ring manufactures give torque values that aren't enough to hold a 308, much less a 300 win mag. For decently made scopes, including Nikon, nightforce, you can go up to 50 lb with not problem, but you have to go up to...
