I don't know how to post pics, but my Sako 85 20" varmint barrelled 204 shot a 15mm group at 200mts and about 1/2 that at 100.

2800fps with the 175's from a 20" barrel is a pretty handy combo! Would love to know what powder you are using.

Wet tumbling with stainless steel pins and burnishing compound in a cheap ebay tumbler. Rinse in hot water, pat dry and into the oven at 60deg C for 1/2 hour.

I'm in Australia, so prices are likely much more than what you guys pay, which might have influenced my decision, but after much looking, I have settled on a combo - thermal spotter and IR scope. The new Pulsar Digex are worth a look.

Something I've wondered too. I sold a Sako Grizzly in 308 - not a big banger, but we just didn't get along. I purchased a Steyr Scout ranger in 308 and using my handloads ( 1/2 grain under max ) it feels like a 243.

I'm in Aus, just picked up some Sako brass on special for mine, not as common as the other brands, might be worth a look?

I've bought a Leica amplus 3.5-15x50, illum dot, sight unseen, based on feedback from some guys I know. It will sit on my 300 wsm chasing Sambar deer. Might be worth a look. Frank

Interesting thread and something I've wondered too. I load 45grs of ADI 2206H under a 150gr sst in my 308 and it feels so soft to shoot, almost like a 243, but hits hard on game. Nothing scientific in my findings, but his load feels softer than any other factory load or reload.

I did hear something a day or so ago that suggested perhaps there was a glimmer of hope that they may rebuild.

Where I hunt the weather can turn nasty so I looked for a bino harness where the lid covered the opening on all sides. It seemed so many didn't then, but the Alaska Guide Creations did and has been great.

Dumb question maybe, but have you checked the crown?
