Do you use an Scope Cover ?

Most of my hunting is in pretty dusty conditions, so a cover is mandatory to protect the lenses. I use a "scope coat" as they protect the scope well and are easy to get off with a single movement before a shot.

Dial-up warning several MB of photos - Namibia hunt

Guys I am back from my Namibia hunting trip. This was my first time in that country, but not my first time in Africa. I took my 9.3 x 64 and 308 Baer on this trip. Once on the hunt, all shots were taken with the Baer. The country was everything I expected with most shots presenting themselves...

    Building a new rig...

I understand the reason for the Barnard and think it will work fine. The vais break would not be my first choice, but will work. Out of the items you listed, the only one I think is really a bad choice is the stock. I tried a hunter BR stock early in my custom rifle building and hated it. It is...

    NZ Long Range Sika Hunting

That heavy 7mm/404 looks like a Barnard action. I have one which shoots very well. One of the guys here has a 7mm/404 wildcat of his own and does very well with it in 500 meter and 1000yd competition.

    338 EDGE-HOW MUCH BETTER IS IT ??

[ QUOTE ] 50 POUNDS??? Are you hauling a Rail gun around? [/ QUOTE ] No, a 1000 competition rifle. I always intended to do some kind of hunting with it, but of course it would have to be a drive in proposition.

    338 EDGE-HOW MUCH BETTER IS IT ??

[ QUOTE ] Would it be cabable of making clean kills on 600 lbs deer out to 1000 yards ? If so what would be the bullet of choice to run ? [/ QUOTE ] The big 338s have been well proven on elk in the US for many years and I dont see why a sambar would react any differently. If you can get a...

    Berger bullets

[ QUOTE ] Something to think about, I have not been to Africa myself, but several of my friends have and they all say that when you come into the country over there, their authorities check to make sure the caliber stamped on the barrel matches the caliber stamped on the head of the cases. Does...

    Berger bullets

Guys Thanks again for the input. I did talk to Berger on this issue and they dont see a problem. They have been good to deal with and very helpful. Having said that, I came here for some additional input, because as much as I appreciate the comments from Berger, I also value first hand...

    Berger bullets

Dave I am asking for the experience of others so that I will get a better understanding of the benefits and limitations of these bullets on game. Since Berger recommend their VLDs for hunting big game, this does not seem unreasonable. Are you telling me you know for a fact Bergers will fail at...

    Berger bullets

Screech Thanks for that info – that’s exactly the information I am after. If it will survive 300 RUM velocity at 100 yards, it will certainly work for my purposes.

    Berger bullets

Hi guys. Long time - no post. Cant recall the last time I posted here and have been busy as hell the last few years. But, I have a hunt coming up and am interested to hear your comments on the performance of Berger bullets on game. I am planning a trip to Namibia and will be taking my 308 Baer...
