QL is an awesome tool. It saves a lot of iterations. Obviously you need to feel truth and tweak any load suggestion that you come up with in QL, but it really helps with narrowing it down to start. Highly recommend it if you plan on developing loads often.
Just as an update, I went out to the winter range last weekend and found some elk. Did the whole routine at several different ranges, ranged and dialed, got prone and augered in and dry fired on live animals out to 1000 yards. It was good practice and is helping me feel more comfortable.

I’d like to do some upgrades to my very first hunting rifle and looking for recommendations. It’s more of a sentimental thing but would like to stretch the effective range as much as possible. Anyone upgrade one of these rifles before and have any recommendations?
Thanks for the tips guys. I like the idea of setting a timer and “rushing” some shots. I think you’re right, I have no problem pulling the trigger at long range at the range when it doesn’t matter, but when there is consequences of pulling the trigger I hesitate
Another one for retumbo. I shoot 89 gr of retumbo and 210 berger. The gun and load will out shoot me any day. I'm pushing about 3150 fps with an extreme spread of about 10 fps.
