180 Sierra Gamekings very accurate in my 30-06 Ackley. Good terminal performance on antelope and elk so far. Tried Berger’s as I’ve had great results in my 338 Edge but couldn’t get them to shoot in the -06. Same problem with ELD-X’s.

I recently started annealing and after researching many different options bought the MRB from Mike’s Reloading Bench. Small business, fast shipping and very well made machine that was easy to set up. Very happy with it.

Very good instruction, he starts with a classroom session then field shooting. Lots of wind reading practice, 1000 yards out to 2300.

Another vote for the Thunderbeast Ultra 338. Have one on my 338 Edge and it’s been great, good sound suppression and their brake combined with the can reduces felt recoil substantially. Makes it a pleasure to shoot.

Tried both the Berger 140 VLD Hunting and Hornady ELD-X 143’s. Berger’s tightened right up after playing with seating depth, 61.5gr H1000 and .050 jump ended up working great in the Proof barrel. Couldn’t get the ELD-X’s to group so stuck with the Berger’s.

30-06 Ackley. Have a Rem 700 action, HS precision stock and Shilen barrel. Use 190 Berger’s and 180 Game kings depending on whether I’m after antelope or elk. Shot a BC moose with a stock 30-06 years ago using factory core-lokt ammo. All around gun, coyotes to moose and -06 ammo is available...

I have a Rem 700 custom in 30-06 Ackley with a 27” Shilen barrel. Run 190 Bergers at 2826 and 180 Game Kings at 2900. I shoot factory 30-06 at times, works fine. I went with the Ackley so if Murphy strikes while I’m on a hunt away from home most any hardware store has basic 30-06 ammo...

Bertram has worked well for me in my 338 Edge. Handles pressure great and has been consistent quality. Before I tried the Bertram I had poor results from both Remington and Nosler brass. Picked up some 6.5 SAUM brass from Bertram for a new build but haven‘t used it yet as the rifle isn’t done.

It’s 3 days, cost is $1,500 I believe. His website has a good description.

I took the long range shooting course from Shawn Carlock: Defensiveedge.com and really enjoyed it. He sets up a very comfortable ”hunting camp” in the Idaho mountains outside Coeur D’Alene complete with gourmet camp cook. He does some classroom work and basic rifle skill testing then you head...

I have a 30-06 Ackley and have harvested cow elk out to just under 500 yards. With 180 game kings it has 2900fps at the muzzle and drops below 1800 ftlbs at 500 yards. Also shoot 190 Berger’s which drop below 1800 ftlbs at 600 yards. So I keep shots on game to 500 yards or less with that gun...

Shawn who runs Defensive Edge has dies, load data etc. Great guy to work with.

9 months and still waiting on an efile for additional suppressors in a trust. “We’re from the government and we’re here to help.” Not so much.....
