    .260 Rem or 6mm BR

After posting this, I realized maybe it should be in the "barrels and ballistics" section of the forum. Sorry about that

    .260 Rem or 6mm BR

I have a Savage .308 that I am going to rebarrel. The two calibers that interest me are the .260 Rem and the 6 BR. The rifle will be used primarily for paper punching and steel plates out to 600 yards, but I'm sure it'll be used on the occasional long range woodchuck as well. I've always wanted...

    .270 Winchester powder poll.

I have the same rifle. When I bought it, I decided I wanted a "go anywhere and do anything load", so I decided on the 140 Accubond too. I started off with H 4831sc and my search ended. Could I have attained more velocity? probably so. What I wanted was good velocity and GREAT accuracy and that...

    .223 Rem. load info.

Loading for the .223 is usually pretty easy. There are several powders that work great. For 50gr bullets, my favorite powders have been Benchmark and AA2015. Other's swear by V-133. However, h335, h322, 4895 and countless others will work just fine. One of my favorite loads is 26.5 grs of...

    Favorite powder for the 300WM?

Reloader 22 gave me the best mix of velocity and accuracy, but H 4831sc was the most consistant-just a little slower then R22. I have some H1000 but have not tried it.

    Concentricity gauge?

Thinking of buying a concentricity gauge to help track down case/bullet run out. What brand do you suggest? I've read some reviews on the Forster brand and it looks tricky to set up and use. I see that RCBS and Sinclair also have models available. Any tips or advice? thanks-Duff

    Should I rebarrel to .308 or .260?

I have a heavy barreled Savage that continues to give me fits. I'm going to continue to work with it, but my patients have all but run out. Initially, I figured I'd just rebarrel to .308 Win, heck I've got the dies, bullets, Lapua brass, ect. But maybe the .260 would do what I want with less...

Advice please on my finicky .308...

jb1000br: What would you say is the best method of determining seating depth (for a starting point)? Into the lands? or deeper? I've ususally had good luck just off the lands as mentioned above.

Advice please on my finicky .308...

No, I have not bought any factory match ammo-kinda against my religion Maybe I'll give that a try. I just haven't bought any factory rifle ammo in years.

Advice please on my finicky .308...

Sorry if I was unclear, the rifle is bedded in a Stockade gunstocks stock with barrel completely floated. The original lenght is 20" and the crown "looks" fine. I've checked the action screws and no binding or anything unusual. Had the scope off and checked the bases/rings. I clean it with...

Advice please on my finicky .308...

I have been tinkering on and off with a .308 for about a year. It is a 20" heavy barreled savage with 1x10" twist. I have tried several loads using 125 TNT's, 155 MK's, and 168 Hornady match. Surprisingly, the TNT's have given me the most consistant results! I have tried different powders...

    270 Win / 700 Rem mt. rifle

I bought a Rem 700 ADL this summer and worked up a load for it early this fall. Mine also sports a 22" barrel. My load is Win brass, Fed 210m primer, 140 gr. Accubond and 59 grs. of H 4831sc. Velocity is right at 2825 (over my PACT chrono) so I'd say your load is ballpark. I was hoping for more...

    Picture test.....my .270 (hopefully)

I sanded off the old finish. Applied some Krylon gray primer, then used the camo paints from Krylon for the color. I put on a couple coats of the OD green as a base, then get an old tooth brush (or someone elses if your mad at them ) Holding the tooth brush over a trash can I load up the brush...
